Upright Vacuums Reviews

I purchased this vacuum about a year ago and paid just under $100.00. This also included an additional smaller portable vacuum(The boss bagless).

The Contour Upright works very well on rugs and has powerful suction. The addition of the spin duster is a nice feature to have when you need to do some quick dusting in tight spots or corners of ceilings. The one drawback of using the attachment is the whole assembly tends to come loose(easy to tighten) and most times when you need to remove the hose to do spot cleaning your hand will scrape against this tight area (design flaw) trying to pull out the hose.

The extra vacuum that was included is also great for small cleanups on floors - it came with 2 attachments (one for floors and one crevice tool) it has an adjustable arm so its comfortable like an upright and could be hung on a wall or in a closet.

All in all, very good vacuum and never had a problem with the Eureka brand.

I have never written a review, but if this makes just one person pause before they purchase this machine, it was worth the effort.

This is the most miserable product I have ever had the misfortune of purchasing. I have had mine for a little over a year, and have had the following problems: broken belts (multiple, I have actually lost count), unit emits burning smell when used, self-propel belt keeps slipping off and disabling the feature (requiring dimantling of machine to repair), dust cup is a nightmare to empty (I mean really, really awful and messy) and fills much too quickly, unit tips over when left alone, and the machine is unusually loud and is getting louder each time I use it.

I will never buy a Hoover product again! This was not worth any amount of money. If I could give it less than one star, I would.

It picked up great but one month before the warranty expired the thing made terrible noises and didn't self-propel correctly. Sent it in for repair, took a month. They said "nothing" was wrong and sent it back, but now it works. I wouldn't buy another one. For $300 it should last more than a year before repairs are needed.

Spend your money on something built better.

I have only had this vacuum for 2 1/2 months, but so far it works great. I have 3 kids, a cat, and a very large long haired dog.

We got this vacuum as a gift at our wedding shower. I didn't know much about vacuums when I did my registry online and so I added this one to my registry. We had this vacuum for a year (used it about once a month if that) and then when we bought our house we started to need it more but it decided to stop working. Hubby took it apart because there was no suction and couldn't find anything wrong with it. He put it back together and still no suction. Right now it's sitting in my basement since it's practically new but soon it'll be going to the dump. Very hard to clean. Filter is ALWAYS clogged. Basically, this is a piece of junk!!!!

I bought this vacuum at Best Buy and after TWO uses it became useless: no suction, just blows dust around. Filter clogs in a heartbeat, messy to empty, and canister will not fit back in correctly.

Don't waste your time with this product.

I haven't had any problems with my machine. Anything you purchase you have to take care of in order for it to last. I clean my filter and even my rotary duster on a regular basis. Recently the belt broke and I had a hard time finding the replacement, BUT that was only because I didn't write down my model number! You get a great deal! 4 bulbs and 4 belts for $16.00?! That will last you PLENTY of time!

HOOVER HAS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH THE BELTS STRETCHING OUT ON ALL THE SELF PROPELLED VACUUMS, BUT WIL DO NOTHING FOR CUSTOMERS STUCK WITH THEM! WE MUST REPLACE THE DRIVE AND PROPEL BELTS EVERY COUPLE OF MONTHS. REDICULOUS POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE

This is a great vacuum for the price. I have 3 cats and it picks up all their hair and I have 2 kids and it picks up all the crumbs they leave behind. I also love the onboard attachments and use them often since they are located right on the unit.
The only downside is that it's very heavy but it has rollers on the back so you can move around the house fairly easily.
For the money, it's a great deal!

We had to purchase a vacuum for our plushy soft carpet that our Oreck XL couldn't handle. (Oreck's great for stairs, bare floors.) This summer is bad in terms of fleas and I needed something ASAP! I vacuumed the upstairs yesterday with the Oreck to put down flea powder in the bedrooms. I wanted a bagged vacuum because our experience with bagless is it just puts all the dust and dirt back in the air when you empty it.

After getting it home (bought at Costco) and very easy assembly, I started it right up and tested it out. The self-propelled feature is a must for those thick carpets. Otherwise, you would be burning some serious calories. It was easy to use and very manueverable around furniture, tables, and corners. I carried it upstairs with one arm. (It's heavy but has a handy opening/handle in the back.) I revacuumed the entire upstairs.

Here's the best part: I took the bag out to see how much it collected. The bag was almost full from dust, carpet fiber, dirt, and most importantly, FLEAS! I was amazed at how much more this picked up compared to the Oreck. The dirt detection feature is nice but I didn't have time to vacuum my carpet all day to get the green light to stay on. It took 10 or more passes over a certain area before the green light would come on.

It does a wonderful job. The tools are easy to get to and easy to use. Just pull the hose out from the floor beater bar. It comes with extension poles and an extension hose. The hand-held motor brush is good for furniture. The vacuum bags are made out of the same material that you would put on an air filtration system. There is no seperate filter to change. (Very nice.) I will still use my Oreck for the stairs since it is much lighter and compact.

Very easy to use and very powerful and efficient. We bought from Costco in case we didn't like it and wanted to take it back. Costco has the best return policy.

I just want to buy this. On the search engine it said 8.99 for this 15-pack I want to buy every one available. Where's the buy button???? SOMEONE HELP
