Upright Vacuums Review DO NOT BUY ANY SELF PROPELLED HOOVER VACUUMS
HOOVER HAS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH THE BELTS STRETCHING OUT ON ALL THE SELF PROPELLED VACUUMS, BUT WILL DO NOTHING FOR CUSTOMERS STUCK WITH THEM! WE MUST REPLACE THE DRIVE AND PROPEL BELTS EVERY COUPLE OF MONTHS. REDICULOUS POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE

Upright Vacuums Review Do NOT buy this vacuum, or any vacuum from Hoover
I have never written an online review, but I am compelled to write one now. I purchased this vacuum 4 months ago. Since then, it has broken 3 times with only light use (about twice a month), and I have had to drive it 30 minutes to the nearest Hoover service center, then go back a few days later to pick it up. The third time it broke I called Hoover to find out how I could go about replacing or exchanging it. They told me "that's what the warranty is for," and said they would not take responsibility for replacing it. So I am stuck with it. Based on this experience, I would caution anyone to think twice about purchasing a Hoover. I certainly will never buy from them again.

Upright Vacuums Review Just so-so
My Hoover Windunnel bagless worked fine for a few months. When I bought it I also bought the extended service agreement for $50 because I'd read that they didn't have a good repair record. It was a wise investment. I needed it after a year.

To keep suction, you have to empty the canister each time and clean off the filter. This is a time consuming and dirty process. It loses suction quickly when the filter gets clogged. Thank goodness for the self propelled option. It's heavy and not easy to push without it. It's also very loud.

It doesn't do bare floors well at all unless you use the hose and floor attachment. By just using the upright, the small rock particles are thrown by the brush to other areas of the floor and if the filter is plugged, it won't pick them up anyway.

I will say that it worked pretty well in the beginning. I liked having the hose and all the attachments at my fingertips. The compartment keeps them handy and they don't fall out while vacuuming.

Upright Vacuums Review Its ok ok....
The look of vacuum looks great. Its very sleek... It was easy to set up and I started vacuuming right away. I was impressed that it picks up my cat's hair very well. It filled up the bagless canister quickly. I was awed after vacuuming a small area of wall to wall carpet. I had to to go through endless sneezing after emptying the bagless.... I tried to vacuum the hard-floor, it did pick up some dirts but I noticed it does not pick up a chip of popcorn. When I was done with it, I had a hard time closing the compartment. It was either the electric cord was not wrap up properly or the fastener couldnt lock in. I realized that I might go through struggling to put the cord back into right position to get it closed every time when I use the vacuum. I did not want to go through this kind of hassle in the future. Another thing about the tools in the compartment, it kept falling off. The extra tools such as extra long hose and a floor wand that came with this vacuum does not have a place to put on the machine. I do not see what's big deal about folding down the vacuum? I decided to return this item back and look for a better product...

Upright Vacuums Review Definitely a very good vacuum cleaner
I've had my Hoover 700 for 6 weeks now and everytime I use it I tell myself I should add my review for this cleaning machine. I think buying a new vacuum cleaner is like buying a car... you know your going to be using it for quite awhile and you definitely want to make the right choice!

Overall, I'm more than happy that I chose this machine. After using it quite a bit I have only found a couple things I'm not overly happy with.

Here are my positives:
1) Does a great job of cleaning. I'm very satisfied with the basic job it does vacuuming. To be honest, I don't see how any other machine could do a better job. I replaced an 9 year old Hoover with this one and this EASILY out performs my old one (and I remember paying about $300 for it).
2) The wide tread is really a bonus and my carpet looks much better after cleaning... with the wheel's far to the outside the carpet ends up being fluffed up uniformly .. doesn't have much of the ... 'hey, I just vacuumed 2 minutes ago' look.
3) the conversion from canister to upright really does give you the best of both worlds. If you vacuum stairs this machine is a no brainer. In the folded position it is way stable.
4) The big surprise feature that I didn't know it had was an automatic shutoff if the brush becomes 'jammed'. I guess I'm a littel lazy sometimes and I will leave a pair of shoes out and kind of push them out of the way as i vacumm. Well, sometimes I catch the laces and this machine will detect the resistance and shut off!! I've ruined many laces over the years and had a hard time getting them out of my old machine. Well, I caught some laces again and the vacuum quickly shut down. GREAT bonus feature!!!
5) This maybe a common feature but I didn't have it on my old vacuum. When you put this vacuum in the hardfloor setting the brush's stop so now I'm not shooting small pieces dirt around on my kitchen floor.
6) I didn't think looks was important but I really like the fact that this doesn't look like a standard vacuum. I have a bird and I vacuum the family room everyday.. first thing when I get home from work. I leave this Hoover out many times and when it is in it's folded position it is very unobtrusive. This is another real plus... it doesn't look like you have a vacuum sitting out.
7) It is much quieter than other vacuums I've tried.
8) I like the material the power cord is made out of. It is very pliable and has a slick coating... it does not tend to want to tangle like my old machine (big plus).
9) The telescoping handle is great even in the upright position. It really lets you clean a big area from one standing area.
10) The hose on this machine is very well designed... really pliable and expandable but kind of folds back into itself.. I'm sure alot of effort went into its design. Neat.

My not so positives:

1) The power cord/attachment compartment is too small for this model with the power cleaning attachment inside. You have to be very carfull how you wrap the cord and where the plug is located if you want to latch the cover down with no issues. My solution is to not store the power cleaning attachment in the compartment. Definitely not a plus.
2) Sometimes I have to giggle the machine by the handle to get the machine to release and fold down when I'm done with it... It seems to want to be in just the right upright position for that task.
3) The on board self cleaning filter is supposed to never need changing so this may not be a minus but if you ever do WANT to replace it, the instructions indicate it is not a task you can do at home.. you have to take it to a Hoover Service center.

Neutral:
1) The vacuum does take a little upper arm strengh to opperate. If you have very little I don't think this vacuum is for you however it is not that bad (although first reaction is that the vacuum is 'heavy' it soon does not seem to be an issue). But, I don't think I would like this vacuum as much if it was super light weight. I like it's stability in the folded position when I'm using the hose.. and I think the weight helps in the quailty of it's cleaning power... so it is a dual edged sword.

If you have a little upper arm strength I think this is a vacuum definitely worth the investment (again if you vacuum stairs too this machine is almost a no brainer).

Upright Vacuums Review For Serious Cleaning!
Hoover has done an excellent job in the design of this machine, they have incorporated the latest technology in filtration and design. It can be used either as a canister or an upright, on carpet and hard surface floors, upholstery and blinds. Once you take the Z into a room you can do the floors clean the overhead fan, in other words, do the whole job. This vacuum is solid! It has the feel of quality. They did not skimp on features. Extra long cord, can do several rooms from one outlet. The hose length will allow you to do a flight of stairs with no problem. The wide cleaning head and power brush allow for less time in a room.

I could go on and repeat the features that others have written about, I will not. I am 65 and have had several vacuums in my life, this by far is the most impressive. Note: Currently selling at 389.00 at etronics.com. No shipping chg.

Upright Vacuums Review Cheap and useless
I had this vacume for less then a year. in that time I found that it clogged easily, and on bare floors it really could not handle anything larger then sand.
There was smell of burning rubber, and then the spinning brush no longer worked.

As for the design, the power button is in a inconvenient place. i should have retuned this immediately. Oh well, never another Bissell.

Upright Vacuums Review Powerful vacuum cleaner, good value for money
I have had this vacuum cleaner for a year now. Works really well. It does get clogged easily and loses power. It needs to be thoroughly cleaned after every use (just wash the containers and the foam and plastic filters with water). But if you take good care of it, it will give very good results. It brought out dust that my older vacuum would have never picked up. It's very sturdy and made of good quality material. The bagless format means that you don't have worry about buying bags all the time (which people like me always forget) :)
Overall it's a great vacuum cleaner for the price.

Upright Vacuums Review No problems
I absolutely love this vacuum! It cleans really well. The dirt compartment is easy to dump and the filter easy to clean. I have had this vacuum for 9 months with no problems. You still can't beat a broom for large floors, but for carpet this thing is great. The extensions are very handy. I was hoping to be able to clean blinds with it, but the available extensions aren't brushy enough for that. Not light as a feather, but not horribly heavy.
As with all vacuums, it is noisy. It is a bewilderment to me that engineers can make upscale cars virtually noiseless but not vacuums.
Anyway, a great vacuum and worth what I paid for it.

Upright Vacuums Review The worst
I usually read reviews here so I hope I can help someone else. This is by far the worst vacuum I have ever owned. I have two dogs and a cat and the filter clogged within one minute (really) of start up. The dirt cup is small and it shoots dirt out on bare floors. I could not get the hose to work and therefore could not get the 'tiger paw' to work either. I now will not suck since I had to clean up a chocolate powder spill. I cleaned the filters out with water and compressed air and still nothing. I tried to return it to the store but since it was used, same item only. I have written Eureka demanding a full refund. I will let you know how that works out.

Upright Vacuums Review HORRIBLE!!!!!
This vacuum worked for the first month then lost almost all suction! If you pull the hose out & try to vacuum the baseboards or anything it does not suck it up. Yet if you put your hand on it it will suck your hand. It sprays anything hard all over the place & I have even seen dust spraying out the front when I vacuum in front of the window. I tried vacuuming capture up which is a powder that cleans carpet, It would not even clean that up it just sprayed it out the front of the vacuum all over the place!!! I had to use a shop vac to clean it up! I cannot believe they can sell this piece of you know what!!! I have owned it for less then a year, total waste of money!!!

Upright Vacuums Review Great Vacuum
I am so impressed with this vacuum in the 12 hours I have had it! I vacuumed an area of my family room three different times and was so shocked at the amount of dirt it pulled out! I looked at the Dyson but couldn't justify the cost. The Dyson can't have more suction than this one does. The power claw attachment actually pulls the carpet on the stairs! I cannot vouch for its longevity but so far this is an amazing vacuum!

Upright Vacuums Review bad suction!
I hated this vacuum. The suction was awful. I had to go over my living room rug ten times to make it look even halfway decent. It never really picked up any cat hair unless you went over the area 20 times! I would not buy this vacuum again nor would I advise anyone else to!I hated it and my cleaning lady (who comes 2 times a month) started bringing her own b/c she thought it did such a bad job. I just bought a new one and I have only had this one for a year or so - I just couldn't take it anymore. I spent probably double for the bissell bagless/liftoff revolution and is was worth every penny - what a difference!!!

Upright Vacuums Review BEWARE
The worst vacuum purchase I have ever made. The circuit board has gone out twice in the nine months I have owned it. I have to travel 46 miles to get it repaired even though I can buy the vacuum several places in town. Hoover offered to pay shipping ONE way- whoopee. The sad thing is that the vacuum works great when it works. As soon as it is fixed again I am trading it in for a different brand. I don't dare keep it past the warranty period because who knows how long it will last.

Upright Vacuums Review Good vacuum, bad belt.
I too have stripped the geared belt that was guaranteed for life. And because it's guaranteed for life, they don't sell them in stores, so I guess I'll be contacting Hoover Monday morning to see if they can send me one. Overall, it's been a great vacuum, just the belt issue has been a pain. Also, the green and red light feature is cool. And like mentioned above, it actually seems to work well.

Upright Vacuums Review Seven Months and I still love this Hoover Savvy!
I was in the market for a new vacuum, and was leaning toward a Dyson. I read an comparison by Good Housekeeping, though, and this was the winner. I decided to give it a try! I couldn't wait to try it as soon as I got it. So, even though my carpet had just been swept with my very old Dirt Devil, I vacuumed as soon as I got it out of the box and got the attachments fastened on. It picked up a ton of cat hair and a little bit of dirt. It has a neat sensor on it that is red and says dirty and then changes to a green light saying "clean." I've found the light changes to "clean" when it is no longer picking up anything. I first thought it was silly, but it's actually quite useful: the carpet is never actually cleaned as soon as I think it should be. The powered hand tool does a bang up job on the recliner and my couches. Seven months later and I still love my Hoover Savvy.
