FINALLY! A Vacuum The Way They USED To Be Made...OK, let me keep this short. In the past 11 years, I have gone through 5 vacuum cleaners. Most of these machines were flimsy, awkward, poorly designed, dirty, noisy, and just burnt out after awhile. I've been looking for a vacuum that will LAST me and one that actually CLEANS carpets the proper way. I don't care about "bagless cyclonic action" or "horsepower" ratings(which don't mean a thing anyway). Nor do I want a machine that looks like it came from outer space, that weighs about a ton, and features attachments that I'll never even use... I mean I just want a machine that does what it's name implies-VACUUMS. Well, I finally found it in the Eureka C209...
Just for the record, this is sold primarily as a commercial vacuum(for hotels, businesses, etc) so you're not going to find this thing in the aisles at Wal*Mart or JC Penney. Being fed up with the mass-market cleaners, I went to a local independent vacuum store to purchase this. Yes, it is pricey, but you get what you pay for. This is *STRICTLY* a carpet machine. There are no hoses, attachments, or other gadgets included. The 50ft power cord is more than enough to reach into many areas of my home. There are six different positions to set the cleaner to the proper height, for vacuuming everything from old shag carpeting to low-pile berber. It is a little noisy, but that doesn't concern me. There are no filters to clog, and no hoses with strange twists and turns that always seem to plug up... This is the type of machine your mother used to have--the way they USED to build them. The kind that lasts you 30 years, not the throw-away vacuums that flood the market today. Is it worth every penny? YOU BET. This should be the last machine I'll ever need. Solid construction, metal body, and chrome parts ensure a long life. Try it and see for yourself. Even Consumer Reports said that most vacuums today are just cheap, throw-away toys. Go for this and you'll never look back. Thanks Eureka! I'm finally happy, and what a difference it made in my carpets!

Just what I needed....I have a small cleaning business and have had bad luck with wimpy vacuums. I needed a vac that was well constructed, durable and could stand up to some abuse. Not only do I use this vac for my jobs, I use it at home, every day, because I have 4 small boys, a dog and a cat. This is, by far, the best vac for the job! It is efficient and picks up wonderfully. I like the carpet height dial and adjust it accordingly when needed (it works better this way). I would recommend this vacuum for everyday use in any home. Yes, it is very basic and doesn't have any bells and whistles but I didn't want or need them. The 50 ft cord is the best! I have not one compliant or negative thing to say about this product.
It's Not PrettyThis is not the most beautiful machine in the world but it sure gets the job done. I had owned a very basic version of this type of vacuum before and gave it away. I kick myself everyday for that. These are the only vacuums that I have found that get all of the dog hair out of my berber carpet and that is not an easy task. I hope I will never own any other type of vacuum again so I hope Eureka keeps on making these for many years to come.

Cheap price... Cheap vacuumPut your $40+ towards something better... This won't last past the 1st bag change.
Don't buyI've had the powerforce for less than two months and the belt has already broken on it. After searching about Bissell and broken belts, it seems like this is a common problem for them. Belts and brushes aren't covered under warranty as well and it doesn't matter whether it breaks on the 1st day or later, they say they aren't liable for anything.
A Waste of Money - Buy Something ElseI have had 2 of these vacuums and both broke within 3 months. With the first one it worked great for the price for about the first week. Then it started getting clogged. No matter how often I emptied the container or cleaned the filters it kept getting clogged to the point that nothing would be in the dirt container and I would have to completely take it apart and pull out the dirt and dog hair. It was a total nightmare. After 2 months it started getting hard to turn on. I would have to hit the switch several times for it to work. Before the 3rd month the on/off switch broke completely. I took it back and exchanged it for a new one. I had the same problems with the 2nd vacuum. The new one took about 3 weeks before it started getting clogged. And before the 2nd month the on/off switch broke again. It also lost all of it's suction power and would just push everything instead of picking stuff up. I have not been able to find my receipt to return it, so I am going to throw this vacuum out for the trash man to have. Although the price is cheap it was a total waste of money and a huge headache. I will never buy a Bissell vacuum cleaner again.

They dont make 'em like they used toYou should be able to get a well-made vacuum cleaner for $139, apparently at Hoover you cant. The suction is very good (I have a dog and a cat, fyi). That is the most important thing. If that is all you want then this cleaner might be for you. The good suction bumps my rating from 2.5 to 3
If you are bothered by the little things, then you should probably look elsewhere. Using this thing is a pain. The devil is in the details and like most manufacturers these days, Hoover cheaped out. From the first time I used it, I have had continual annoyances. I have had this cleaner for about 1.5 years and these have been the problems
The little cap on the top of the handle came off every time I used it until I finally lost the cap. Not a big deal, but it seems cheap.
The clips that keep the cord up and away from the floor dont work so you either have to jerry rig something or keep hold of the cord so you dont run over it.
The height adjuster is so hard to use I wind up keeping it set on the same level for hardwood floors as I do for carpet. No disrespect meant, but I'm a 39 year old male and I find it very hard to move this thing (I cant believe Im writing a review on my vacuum cleaner, what has my life become). If you are elderly, or have any kind of arthritis in your hands, forget it.
The way the hose is supposed to tuck neatly into the back of the vacuum cleaner does not work on my model. After the first time I used an attachment, I have never been able to get it back into place. The hose now hangs awkwardly off of the back.
The little flap that you need to close when you use an attachment has come off so I need to constantly put it back on and make sure I dont lose it.
The plastic snaps that are supposed to hold the extension tubes in place dont work.
The vacuum cleaner tips very easy when you are using the attachments. This problem is further amplified because the carrying case for the attachments comes open easily and tools will spill out.
All together, these issues make it seem like a cheaply made product.

Absolutely the BESTI have cleaned homes and businesses for over 15 years.
I've tried many, many vacuums.
This is the best vacuum for suction, weight and friendliness.
It's easy to change from vacumming to using the hose.
When vacumming, the machine, as it comes back, will come up against my right leg. There are no gadgets in back that will get in the way and jab my leg.
There are a few quirks about it, but EVERY vacuum has its quirks. And the price is great.
After cleaning for someone the first time, they want to know what kind of vacuum that I have.

Works great every timeI have to say that i am really happy with this vacuum cleaner. I have had it for awhile and it still works great. The suction is great. Makes carpets really fluffy, even older carpets. The extra tools are conveniently stored in the front at the top of the vacuum. Bags are cheap and are easy to replace.
This Powerbrush proved to be a whiz at cleaning our hardwood floors, as well as other bare floor areas in the kitchen and adjoining breakfast area.
It's lightweight, thus easy to pull out for quick clean-ups. But, don't let its size fool you - it has maxi power and picks up every crumb and mote.
A Bissell Powerbrush is a most welcome addition to our household appliances. Bravo Bissell!
