Upright Vacuums Review Disappointing
I bought the Hoover Empower Turbo because I wanted a folding vacuum with Hush mode and a Pet Brush. I bought the Turbo model because I liked the silver color over the other Empower Ipod colors. When I took it out of the box, the first thing I noticed was that there is only one extension wand. Most vacuums have two. This model has an extra hose, but I am not tall and would prefer an extra wand.

The second thing I noticed when I turned it on was that it pulled itself forward, but was more work to pull it back.

The next thing I noticed was that the Hush mode didn't seem much different than regular mode. Those commercials with the sleeping father and child are a joke.

During vacuuming, the hose came off of the main valve. It doesn't really 'lock' on.

On all of the Hoover folding vacuums, the cord wrap is in front of the hose. Which means you can't access the hose while vacuuming unless the cord is unwound all the way (that is too much loose cord for me). I had to stop vacuuming to unwind the rest of the cord so I could access the hose.

The pet brush was ok. I have a eureka hand vac with a rotation brush that does a similar job. The pet brush attached to the vacuum might have more power.

I did think that it picked up a lot of dirt right away - that was impressive. I liked that I could see it and dump it immediately. I don't like that the replacement filters are one of the most expensive on the market.

I think I am going to return this one and get the Hoover Cyclonic instead (no filters or bags to replace - ever).

Upright Vacuums Review I thought I was buying quality when I bought a Hoover ..
But this product has simply been a huge disappointment. I'm taking it back soon ... we've spent more time digging the clogs out than we have vacuuming. The binding screw is hidden under a sticker, so it took us forever to find it, and the plastic housing is cracking and breaking because we've had to spend so much time worrying with it.

Pass it up! It's horrible!

Upright Vacuums Review Seriously - Don't waste your money
We bought this thinking the bagged design would help prevent the mess of emptying a bin. With this design, the bag barely fits which results in no expansion capability of the bag. You will spend a lot of time trying to push dirt further into the bag to use more of it, or changing bags constantly.

For the design of the vacuum itself - the electric brush mounting mechanisms have melted down on two brushes, so I had to remove them and use the remaining two brushes. Dirt gets clogged easily in the "V-2" design, so you'll have to dig into that too. The machine is extremely heavy and will hurt your back to push around.

In the end, after one year of use, we just chucked this thing in the trash and now use a $50 Eureka and a roomba. We are much happier with this monster out of our lives!

Good Luck.

Upright Vacuums Review Worst Hoover Yet
I purchased this Hoover less than one year ago. It kept getting clogged with dust and carpet fiber; in order to remove the clogs the bottom had to be unscrewed and the roller brushes removed. After doing this several times the plastic that held the screws became stripped and the bottom literally fell off. Since the clogging was apparently a design flaw, I did not have the vacuum repaired but replaced it with an Electrolux Aptitude. Well there is no comparison! The Electrolux is much quieter, cleans just as well and raises the nap of the carpet better is better looking and better constructed. Disassembly does not require a screwdriver so there is no problem with stripped plastic like the Hoover. The Electrolux also comes with a better variety of cleaning tools and a power-driven brush. Admittedly, the Electrolux is slightly more expensive but it is worth the difference.

Upright Vacuums Review Excellent Choice!
This is a great vacuum! It is a bit on the heavy side, but it has some self-porpelled motion, which helps. It was afordable, and works great. I have a cat, and she leave hair everywhere, it's great to have a powerful vacuum that really cleans and is also easy to empty.

Upright Vacuums Review Little less than a rave review
This proved to be a good investment despite some flaws. I use to have a dirt devil and a soon as I started to vacuum with the Bissell I knew it was of better quality. There are two flaws that I think about everytime I use the vacuum 1. I am a so much interested in the way my things look and the vacuum has faded letters and it is missing logo information. It makes it look like it is not a "real" bissell. That is just me, but I bet if someone would look at it they would not even notice the missing logos and the lettering that looks like it was stamped in the wrong place.
2. When I use the vacuum there is always a foul smell that comes out of it. It makes me think that if this was a used item the previous owner had pets and the odor is still penetrated.
Overall I do recommend this remanufactured product.

Upright Vacuums Review Awesome product
Love this vacuumm. It has great power and can take a beating.

Upright Vacuums Review Good for the money
I'm pleased with the way it works. It picks up well and is easy to maintain. However, the main filter was scented. You have to wash the filter anyway instead of replacing it (very easy, very fast drying) and once I did that a couple of times the smell was gone. It is like an air-freshener, but I just don't like those scents.

Upright Vacuums Review Great for bare floors and the price!
We now own 2 of these and it works better than 5 other brands (all name brands and more expensive too) I tried before buying the original one of these. It is a little loud, but more than worth it for the way it picks up off of bare floors (both wood and vinyl floors). I vacuumed with it after using a bag vacuum on both bare floors and carpeted floors, and couldn't believe what it picked up that the other one left behind even though the floor looked and felt clean. It also has an extra long cord, which is nice to have and not replug in elsewhere while I'm cleaning.
Also, they have this model still at Walmart new for the same price as this remanufactured, but changed the model number & a couple things, one being that this one has 7 height adjustments including a bare floor setting, and the new one only has 5 and no setting says bare floor, which was important to us. The only other difference is the color, which I think is black now instead of blue.
We've also had no problem with any clogging from the filters, but I've also washed them out when they look dirty instead of waiting for the suggested time to clean them, so maybe that will help someone else also. They also sell replacement filters for it at Walmart, so if you don't want to wait for the dirty ones you washed to dry, you could get a spare set to have on hand, and it wouldn't cost but a few dollars. They are easy to clean, just use water then wait for them to dry before reinserting them in the vacuum.
I'm hoping it last a couple of years or more, but for $50, I wouldn't complain if I had to get a new one in another year, it works that great, and I'm pretty picky about how clean my floors are with having animals and their shedding. The rest of the house can be messy, but I have to have my floors clean!

Upright Vacuums Review Great For the money spent
I have had this machine about 6 months and i have had no problems. It actually picks up better than almost any vacuum that i have owned. I used it the first time to re-vacuum a floor that i had gone over with a bag vacuum.

Upright Vacuums Review Money Down the Drain
After owning a cheap and inexpensive vacuum cleaner, three years ago I decided to make an investment and purchase the Phantom after seeing the exceptional demonstrations on television. Thinking I would get at least ten years out of this product, I was sadly mistaken when I attempted to use it and it wouldn't cut on a few days ago. A couple of times it cut on, but immediately cut right back off. I wasn't worried at first because I really loved this product. The clean up was great and the versatlity of the hose makes this vaccum stand alone, but as soon as I took it into the repair shop the representative immediately knew there was nothing he could do. Why? Because there were other Phantoms in the back (the Phantom graveyard)also burnt out and unrepairable. The reason is becuase the cord contains some piece that is not available and the only option is to pay and send it back to Euro-pro which would be unreasonable when you might as well by a knew one. This is just a warning to people who consider purchasing any type of Euro-Pro product. Don't do it unless you have money to ship it to them and you don't mind wasting money. The reason I trusted the repairman was because I had read the other reviews, and recently I saw another review on a euro pro product which stated the same information about the unavailabily of replacement parts it was just a different item. Point blank....Euro- Pro products are crappy and there's no way to way I would buy another item from them.

Upright Vacuums Review Please Listen to Everyone's Warning!
I WISH I had read the reviews for this vacuum! Everyone is ABSOLUTELY correct when they say that the power cuts out on this vacuum!

Also, yes, it DOES have terrific suction... at first! After owning my fantom for a few months I noticed that as soon as the canister was filled a 1/4 of the way I lost all suction on my attachments. This is so frustrating since I have two cats that shed like crazy... and stairs. Cleaning the stairs was an excercise in patience.

Finally, the power just started shutting on and off. Since I hadn't read these reviews I blamed my roommate and we got into a big fight.

Thanks fantom.

Just as I was about to take the thing to be fixed the wheel fell off. Nice.

A full list of complaints?

Crappy suction that worsens over time.
HATE the way the canister empties. It's some stupid twist crank thing that spits cat hair all over my floor.
Faulty electric connection that apparently is VERY common.
The tool clamps are SO flimsy! My tools always fell off. Always. Very frustrating.
After six months the vacuum started making this really weird loud rattling sound. I have heard others complain about this in their reviews... and yes. I DID also blame the roomie for this one too.

For all of you, that like me, believe that I had these problems due to my own vacuuming habits, such as dropping the vacuum and running things over, all I have to say is NO. The vacuum I had right before this one has attachments that ALWAYS stay in place, and I owned it for 13 years. In fact, it's still running. I gave it to my friend who needed one, and let me say, BOY was that a mistake! I wish I still had that vacuum!

Please, do yourself a $200 favor and buy another vacuum.

Upright Vacuums Review I give up!
I like many other have experienced the power going off/on while cleaning. I have owend the vacuum for about 2 years and was pleased with the cleaning ability. I was about to take it to a repair shop and read some of the reviews. I will invest my money in something else.

Upright Vacuums Review Useless, total ripoff!
At best, this is a mediocre vacuum when it has a fresh filter. However the filter clogs constantly. I have to clean it twice with an unused paint brush to vacuum my small one bedroom apartment (and I don't even have pets!). I've been trying to order replacement filters from anyone, anywhere in vain. Igia.com appears to be the only place you can order replacement filters. I try to place an order online and it won't go through because they say there's something wrong with the expiration date on my card (I've been using my card all along, there's nothing wrong with it). I emailed them but they don't email back barring a useless automated reply. I called their 1-800 number repeatedly and after being left on hold for 10 mins, it disconnects. So now I'm stuck with this useless vacuum cleaner that was never great to begin with. In addition, the folks I ordered from (Lazer Storm, 4540 Worth St, Los Angeles, CA 9006; SingerLazer.com) said I'd receive a free steamer with my vacuum. It never came. I emailed them and received no reply. Since then, their URL address is no longer online and their 1-800 numbers is now some singles line. DO NOT BUY THIS USELESS PIECE OF GARBAGE! I've been taken and so will you if you buy it!

Upright Vacuums Review DO NOT BUY THIS JUNK!
Where shall I begin(so many problems)...? Negative 10 stars rating. I was fortunate enough to cancel my order in time for a refund. They sent me the vacuum anyway for free! This shouldn't be called a vacuum. Sucker works for me. It does suck, and I do not know how they vacuumed all those things in the commercial, because it doesn't pick up hardly anything for me ( unless I have the tube attached) If you switch from upright to dustbuster while the vac is running, a cloud of dust shoots out the side. It does not work on carpets or hard floors!!! And, when I shut it off, dirt and anything larger that a pea falls out of the tube, back on the floor. Even the dust buster does not have much suction. Most the complaints in the other reviews I read before submitting this one are complaints of mine as well!

I suggest a Kirby. The demo man who introduced us to Kirby placed a plate across the vacuum intake (which blocked all the suction and does not hurt the vac)and proceeded to lift the vacuum ( 20 lbs.) off the ground, holding only by the raw suction. We were sold with that. I also have a Dison which is good but nothing compared to the suction and versatility of the 15+ attachments that comes with the Kirby (including a shampooer). We also haggled with the kirby dealer and got them down to $1000 which seems like alot, but is worth every penny. It actually vacuums anthing that comes near the entry. Better than any Electrolux I've ever had as well. Bottom line, Don't buy the Singer or you'll regret it for sure.

Upright Vacuums Review Great Product--No customer service
This product is distributed by Igia (Tactica associate.) Although I love the product, and with correct care it performs just as advertised, I found absolutely NO CUSTOMER SUPPORT from these people. For that reason, I cannot recommend this product. The contact info on the box is useless! I have seen the same offer under other names such as Windstorm, but they all seem to be backed (more correctly, NOT backed) by the Igia/Tactica people. If you want a great product with no support, it is fine, but BUYER BEWARE.

      Upright Vacuums Review Plesantly Suprised!
I wasn't sure how this vacuum would work because I didn't know Sanyo even made vacuums. It is magnificent! The first night I used it, I ran it over my already-clean house and it picked up an entire canister of extra dirt. This is a must-have for pet owners (expecially if someone in the house has allergies) because almost half of that dirt was cat hair that my other vacuum didn't pick up. I didn't realize there was so much cat hair in my house. The only complaints I have about it are 1) it's a little heavy and 2) one of my attachments comes out of its holder sometimes. Overall, an A+!
