...well, not just any vacuum, a cordless one that recharges and takes up little space.

I always said I'd better not ever get something as insulting as a home appliance for a special occasion. I didn't think that was very personal or thoughtful. What kind of present is that? Are you trying to tell me something? Now that the years have passed, I've become a bit more practical about such gifts. I'd still prefer to receive a book, but I have to break my reviewing pattern this one time for an outstanding product. I hate housework, so anything that allows me to enjoy a favorite pastime is high on my list.

I never realized the limitations of a cord while vacuuming, but this lightweight unit can go anywhere without getting caught up by a too-short cord or the lack of an accessible plug. It is battery powered and hangs demurely on its holder most of the time, gathering juice for the next session. This vacuum is similar to the Dirt Devil series, but so handy that I never use the others at all any more... and I had a hand-held vacuum, a light electric broom, Dirt Devil Super Broom, etc. Now they're all banished. Serious vacuuming remains what it is, a necessary evil, but those in-between times have suddenly become insignificant thanks to the cordless vacuum. As an added feature, you can remove the main unit from the body to use as a hand-held for difficult-to-reach places; the battery is also replaceable. At an extremely reasonable price, this vacuum is one of the best gifts I have ever received. Once you try it, like me, you will be sending all your other mini-vacuums to the housekeeping graveyard, cords and all. Luan Gaines/2004.

I definitely rate this vacuum 5 stars. Please bear in mind that it is not meant to clean an apartment that is heavily soiled or as your main vacuum--at least not in my eyes. I have this charging in the kitchen and I have had it for at least 5 years. Its great for spills and quick clean ups to keep the house looking neat enough. I really love this vacuum because when a guest is coming over or there is a quick spill i dont have to lug the heavy duty everyday vacuum out. Its nice and handy and I love the cordless part! I personally wouldn't get rid of my main vacuum in place of it, but this vacuum is definitely very handy to have and very reliable!! Definitely recommended!!

Great product for the quick cleanup. Works well on carpet or hard surface floor. I use it frequently which seems to be key with rechargeable products like this. Be sure to empty is regularly as it plugs up easily.

This is a powerful machine that actually makes my house FEEL cleaner--the filtration system gives me peace of mind that I'm actually cleaning, not just moving dust around. This is a heavy vaccum, so I wouldn't recommend it if you cannot lift heavy items; I don't mind so much because it produces a decent workout, killing 2 birds with one stone ;-). My single gripe with it is that because it is so heavy, I wish there was another solid handle to use for lifting it and moving it around when necessary. The top handle alone doesn't cut it, and if you try to use the handle of the hose attachment, it takes the hose off the machine. Other than that I've been very happy with it. Bought mine slightly used on Ebay for $165.

I knew I liked this vacume from the moment I turned it on. It has excellent suction. I have always had common vacumes...hoover, Dirt devil etc. This is quite pricy but I would never be satisfied with any other common vacume again. The dirt cup is great it empties without having to touch it. The best feature is the carpet brush. After vacuming my carpets with the carpt brush turned on they looked brand new again. They were freshly combed and perfect. if you are like me and wind the cord in several loops then throw it over the top of the vacum handle..well forget about it. When I first saw it had an automatic cord winder I thought "how lazy"....I love having
the cord swept away out of sight with the push of a foot. Even my 2 yr old loves to do it. this is a great buy, go for it!

I've had this vacuum for a year now. I live in a three-bedroom home and use it twice a week. Suction is phenomenal. Filter is reasonably cheap and only needs to be replaced 1-2 times annually. When an object gets clogged, the brush automatically stops rolling until you clear the airway and press the reset button. This is important, because it prevents overheating and damage. Cord automatically recoils for your convenience. The hose extends for hard to reach places (there's even a brush at the end of the hose for better pick-up). Machine is easy to manuever when the brush is rolling. This is the superior choice for your money.
