we were at a friends house for dinner and I was bragging about this rubber broom I had bought that picks up dog and cat hair. It takes a lot of hard brushing to do. Our friends pulled out their dirt devil vacuum and proceeded to out due me. It was like a magic show, they showed me inside how clean it was and then turned it on and away they vacuumed. We own Labs, so anyone who has a lab knows how much hair they shed just standing still.
After a few minutes of vacuuming a small area, they turned it off and opened the compartment where the debris is collected. I could not believe my eyes when I saw the amount of dog hair that was removed from this. The shocking part of this was they had already used a "regular" vacuum before their presentation!

I purchased one of these and I have really enjoyed it. It picks up BETTER than our KIRBY did. I have recommended this vaccum to many people and I still will. If you have any kind of back problems this is the vaccum for you. Its not heavy and does an excellent job. I use it everyday because we have 3 cats that shed alot. Can't beat it for price and performance. Buy one today and enjoy it. I also bought my mom one, she can't lift anything heavy.

For X-mas, Santa gave me this for school. I've had it for almost ten months now. I've never had problems with it. The vacuum is convienent to store. The hook at the top allows me hang it in my closet. This is a nice feature especially since I have very limited space living in a college dorm room. Clean up doesn't take very long. Just pop out the trap and shake out the dust and dirt. I highly, highly recommend this vacuum for every college student. It's a life saver!

This vacuum is very loud, while the suction is not good either. With such bad suction, you have to vacuum the same areas 2-3 times in order for it to pick up the dirt and dust...

Knock on wood, it's been 5 months and this vacuum is still working. Unlike the last vacuum (a hoover windtunnel) that I paid $350 for, that only last a year until it blew out and would cost $250 to replace. Anyway, this vacuum is very light and sucks up very well in my opinion. We have a LOT of cat hair and it works great. This machine is a bit loud, but what vacuum isnt'? I had a kirby that was pretty loud and weighed about 10 times more than this one. This vacuum is well worth the money.

in response to the last review, I have a featherlite bagless and it works fine. It has a two year warranty on parts and the motor, so if it burned out after 9 months, you could have very easily gotten it replaced for very little money. And if you read the manual people, it gives very detailed instructions on how to solve any problem you might have.

Ok, it's cute, but I can't get good suction out of mine. I'm talking like CRUMBS. Let alone spider webs, etc. Maybe I have a lemon, but I'm not happy with it. Also the hose always comes unplugged! I'm going looking for a new handheld !

This incredible little hand vac truly does what it's supposed to do and more. I believe its simple design, rotating brush and large dirt carrying capacity, make it as powerful as a minature upright. I bought one in 1997 and it's still going strong. I just bought two more in case they discontinue this model. The real test I gave this vac was to vacuum white cat hair off a dark blue bedspread. It passed the test with a grade of A+. It's easy to use, not too noisy and very durable. How lucky can you get?

This is the best hand vac you can get. It has more power & suction for picking up pet hair, etc. than any I have tried. You can't go wrong & the price is right.

I have had a Stick Vac Plus for several years and was very satisfied with its ability to pick up sand and dog hair on a 600 ft slate floor. After looking for a new one for the last year I was pleased to find this one at Amazon.
But after using it I was very disappointed. The primary drawback is that the Triangle Nozzle is smaller and does not swivel like the old one did. This means that it does not sweep corners well and is very awkward to move across the floor. The cord is not convenient because you have to loop it and hang it up. There is no way to hang up the vacuum and it falls down easily. The one good feature is the dust container can be emptied and does not require a bag.
I was so disgusted wuth the new vacuum that I have put it in the garage and am again using the old one!I also sent a letter to Royal Applaince Co.
The next time I'll pay better attention to the reviews at Amazon - Thanks for posting them.

I don't love this tool because I find it awkward to use. It lacks the flexibility of my old Dirt Devil, which also had the wedge head, a feature I like.

I find the hose attachment very hard to use because it's not flexible enough, and the machine itself is terribly unwieldy for hose use.

The cord storage is awful, and the on/off switch couldn't be more inconvenient. Well, maybe it could...like at the very bottom of the cleaning head for instance.

It's very noisy. I hate emptying it.

There's just one thing I have to praise to the sky. It has suction power I was floored by (pun intended). This little sucker certainly does that. It works on the few small rugs I have in the kitchen area, well enough to hold them until I use the big serious vacuum cleaner. And on vinyl, it's terrific.

Not sure what all the negative reviews are about...I have had this product for about 5 years now and it hasn't failed me yet. Other than periodic (maybe once a year) replacement of the filter...that's about it. At the time I think I paid $32 or $33 for it at the PX in Korea. Yes it's loud, but for less than forty bucks I am not expecting the last word in refinement. I have 2 cats and one of the main reasons I use it is to pick up the cat litter they leave on the floor, so I'm not sure I understand the reviewer who said it won't work for that purpose. If you want a simple, lightweight vaccum for cleaning hard surfaces I'm not sure what else you could ask for. I rated it 4 stars instead of 5 due to the noise factor, and the recessed carrying handle that can be a pain to pull out sometimes.

I am a student living in a small apartment, and I bought this vacuum cleaner hoping it would do a good job cleaning my new carpet. Having used this unit several times, I realized that the name "Devil" only refers to its noise-producing capacity and not to its suction power. It did a lousy job cleaning my carpet and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. My grandmother, who lives nearby, once borrowed the cleaner, only to return it back the next day saying she'd rather use a wet rug than this vacuum cleaner. So save your money and buy a better (even if heavier) vacuum cleaner!

This vacuum is very lightweight and looks nice, but it is very weak. I got this to replace my dirt devil hand vac and it seems my hand vac was about 5 times stronger. Where I would only have had to make one stroke with the hand vac to pick something up, I have to run this thing over it 5 times. It won't pick up anything minutely stuck to the carpet (a string). It picks up makes clumps of hair, but doesn't suck them in, so it gathers on the rim and I have to pull it out. There is no bag so when you open up the lid it's very messy and dust goes everywhere. This vacuum would probably work best to pick up little crumbs, but if you plan on using it for anything else, get something else! I recommend a hand vac.

Nice looking product, worked OK for awhile. Rather quickly started falling apart. Burned through many belts, seems to clog really quickly (and is a pain to take apart to unclog). Probably fine for very light work.

The ball bearings in the motor mounts are particularly prone to burning out on this cheap vacuum. It probably won't last you more than a year, be warned!

The featherlite does a very good job on carpet, is very lite, its very clean and easy to change bags, and affordable. But it lacks a height adjustment knob, has no headlight, it needs another extension tube, the hose isn't conected to the power base, it needs a longer power cord, it cannot be used on bare floors, and I recommend you wear hearing protection when using it. other than that I think you should keep looking for a better vacuum unless you want a noisy, affordable, good cleaning vacuum

About 2 years ago, we moved to a new house. I had 2 vacuums at that time. One for my dad, one for me. I needed a new one, but, still have my old one. It's a Eureka BOSS. So i got the DirtDevil plus. It a bit loud but cleans my carpet like NEW! It's not as loud as the Eureka BOSS. The bag needs to be replaced every 3 weeks! It's really is a FeatherLite! It's so lite! I have 3 pets a sheepdog,Roxie a Husky,Sonia and a cat BoZo. The DirtDevil pick up there pet hair. I highly recommend this vacuum
