This vacuum cleaner is ALWAYS getting clogged. It was difficult to assemble. That makes replacing the belt extremely frustrating (yes, in one year it has needed several replacements). The onboard tools fall off.

Dirt Devil should pay me for the time and trouble this awful piece of junk has caused me. Buy something else.

I had the dirtdevil swivel glide for a little under a year. Before my misfortune I had been satisfied with this product and really did enjoy cleaning my home. However, a month ago and for some strange reason the vacuum picked up an odor that I just could not stomach. As any housewife would then do, I elected to have it serviced. I was told the vacuum only needed a belt and some general cleaning. Although,Low and behold when I went to pick up my very missed household helper I was told my vacuum cleaner was given to another customer in error. Was I ever furious. The dealer even had the nerve to ask me if I would settle for a used replacement. Using another person vacuum was strickly out of the question. I am certain you already know what my respone was to this suggestion. All I want for Christmas is my own vacuum or a new Dirtdevil swivel glide with the same features if not better, and no negotiation for a used subsitute, nor do I wish to bargan for a lessor model.The mistake that was made is not my problem. Doing without my vacuum cleaner is my problem. This is a situation that needs to be resoved ASAP by given me a new vacuum and not offering me a used replacement. Don't you agree? I welcome your comments.

I don't know why this vaccum has gotten these bad reviews. The people must be vaccum abusers or something. I've had this vaccum for years and neglect it often and it is still doing great. If it clogs they are super easy to get out and just today, about 4 years after I purchased it do I need to buy a new belt. For the price you won't find anything better. The attachments are great and it keeps my house nice and spify. We allmost sprung for a new one but I popped the hood and it was just a belt that needed replaced. (It's the first time I popped the hood after 4 years too) To get a clog out of the tube you can just take it off and give it a shake, if that doesn't work I put the end of my broom through it and the clog is gone. For a cheaper vaccum this one really does the job!!! I've even sucked up legos! This is the only one you will need.

After about a year the belt locked up the roller brush and melted to the roller brush. I had to replace the entire vacuum. Dirt Devil customer service is not very helpful. Over the years I have owned three Dirt Devils and none of them make it longer than one year. Buy another brand.

Words can barely express how much I hate my self propelled dirt devil hepa vac. I just got wall to wall installed and am on my third attempt to vacuum the mess. The hose has clogged three times where it says "power you can see." I want power that works! The cord is stupidly placed so I step on it constantly. It's as loud as a freakin jet engine. It is self propelled BACKWARDS and like wrestling a mule to push. I have worked up a quite sweat in the past hour, thank you. The undo button for the auto pilot doesn't work. The suction sucks. This is the worst piece of machinery I have ever used. It is the worst purchase I have ever made in this price range. I will never again purchase a dirt deveil product and will tell everyone I know how bad your product is.

I'm throwing it away after one year of nothing but trouble. The design is horrendous. To get to the belt, you have to unscrew four screws that are so deeply screwed into the bottom of the machine that you cannot see them. To put the roller back on the track takes super human strength. I have gone through numerous belts in one year. In fact, I have gone through more belts in one year with this vacuum than all the vacuums I've owed over the last several decades.

The machine spits out more than it picks up! I have had to have my carpets steam cleaned to clean the black marks left by the vacuum more than once. It is unbelievably baddly designed flawed model. This is a vacuum that thinks it is supposed to throw dirt on the floor and create more work for you. Do they test these things before they release them?

I bought this vacuum because my 10 year old Eureka was starting to fall apart. I liked the fact the Dirt Devil was bagless and had an always-ready extension hose. I've now been using the Dirt Devil for 4 weeks or so.

But this unit has problems. Firstly, it doesn't seem like it cleans any better than my 10 year old vacuum did. Secondly, it blows air at a 45 degree angle in FRONT of the vacuum cleaner. So while you're trying to clean it's blowing the dirt out of the way, and papers off of tabletops, and magnets off the refrigerator. Third, it doesn't clean hard surface floors well at all. I can keep going over the same dirt spots and it doesn't pick them up. A gentle brush with my fingertips and the dirt moves freely. After vacuuming my kitchen floor I run my hand over it and get all kinds of dirt and dust. That's with the vacuum set to the proper level of course.

All in all, this vacuum doesn't suck. Which is bad for a vacuum cleaner. It may work ok for carpets, it's picked up plenty of dirt, but I would definitely NOT recommend it for hard surface floors.
