Upright Vacuums Review Worst Vacuum in History
This vacuum deserves 0 stars. My wife and I decided to literally toss our brand new Shark in the dumpster after the 3rd time using it. It didn't pick up anything, was hard to clean, left dust everywhere... In fact, I'm pretty sure it left our apartment messier AFTER we used it.

Upright Vacuums Review Poorly designed Junk
According to the instructions "To release the handle, step on the power head and pull back" This has always been the most difficult part of using this vacume. There is no release mechanism like most vacumes have. I always had to pull it back with with brute force. Well finally after 15 months of only light use it broke. It broke big time. Of course its no longer under warranty. I'm upset that I wasted my money on this vacume and now it will go to a landfill for eternity. I would have given this item no stars if it was an option. JUNK!!!!!

Upright Vacuums Review Lots of work to clean!
Seems to pick up dog hair well, but HEPA filter clogs with dust so quickly I have to clean it after vacuuming each room. Each time there are several parts to remove, disasemble, and clean (usually by wacking them against the fence), and even though I'm doing this outdoors there is no way to avoid the clouds of dust that fly out. If you don't clean it frquently it overheats. The little hand held "Baby Shark" that came with it is pretty useful, but otherwise this thing's a pain. I'm going to bite the bullet and spend four times as much on a Dyson, hoping I don't have to clean the filter so often.

Upright Vacuums Review Great Vacuum.. But.....
I just got this vacuum. It was missing a wand, the screw, or whatever, that holds the top to the bottom, and the petal that allows you to go to different heights was broken. I also didn't get any instructions, or warantee card.
HOWEVER, I did use it to see if it was as good as all the Amazon reviewers reported. It is!!! I have 2 dogs and 2 cats, and it sucked up all hair and then some. I only wish that it had come in better condition since my old vacuum is broken, and I really don't want to go without a vacuum for another two weeks.

Upright Vacuums Review SUPER MACHINE
With 7 cats and 3 dogs in our household we have our share of pet hair and dirt. When the DIRT DEVIL PLATNIUM FORCE vacuum arrived I had just vacuumed with my upright EUREKA. I decided to put the Dirt Devil Platnium Force to a test, it passed with flying colors!!!! I was amazed by how much dust, dirt, pet hair was collected in the dirt cup, even though I had just vacuumed. The carpet was visibly much cleaner after using the Platnium Force .It has teriffic suction, and I love the no bag design and the fact I do not have to worry about belts breaking. I especially love the 32 foot power cord, I can go from room to room with no problem! I also tried in the kitchen on the tile floor and it did a great job there too, it sucks the dirt in , unlike the Eureka that tends to blow it around instead of sucking it up. The fact that it is a reconditioned machine is not at all visible, it looks like a new machine, runs like a new machine and comes with a one year warranty. It is a little heavier than most machines but I find it to be more stable, ( it did not tend to fall over like lighter weight machines I have had). It is a nice looking machine. I feel the price makes it an excellent value. It is easy to remove and empty the dirt cup, and has nifty clips to hold the attachments securely. I have owned Hoover and Eureka vacuums both uprights and canisters , Dirt Devil is by far the best.Dirt Devil has done it again!!

Upright Vacuums Review Platinum Force Bagless Upright Recieves a Big Thumbs Up
I tend to be one of thoese bachelors who breaks their vacum and every 6 months, and this one has already passed the test. From first use you can tell this Dirt Devil is very powerfull, and when you turn on the brush, WOW!I really doubt I will need to buy a new vacum soon, and the price I got on amazon saved me an arm and leg!

Upright Vacuums Review What a disaster!
The belt broke twice within three months of purchase.
The dust trap requires a fight every time to take it out and put it back in.
The rollers at the bottom front fall off every time I pick it up.
It is now resting peacefully, almost unused, in the garage less than six months after I got it.
Stay away, even if they pay you to use it.

Upright Vacuums Review Great Out the Gate, But Then . . .
I purchased this vacuum in Aug 01, and loved it to pieces. It pulled up so much "stuff" from our carpets each time I vacuumed, that I began to vacuum almost daily (the hubby was loving that, as we have four boys under 10). I raved about this vacuum until just this week - the motor is on it's final gasp. Just like that, it's a gonner, unresponsive to all maintenance and troubleshooting attempts, and now out of warranty. Tried to contact customer service and plead my case, but they're "OUT OF BUSINESS, SORRY FOR ANY INCONVENIENCE". Guess I know what I'll be getting for my upcoming birthday . . .

Upright Vacuums Review Fantom Thunder power problem
I own a Fantom and I love the way it picks up the dirt, and the bagless feature. However, the darn thing keeps shutting down for no reason and I have to unplug it for a time and plug it back in. We've taken it apart and found no apparent reason for it stopping. I only get about 2-3 minutes of vacuuming before it powers down. I've tried to reach the company but they seem to be out of business now. Does anybody know their status or have you experienced the same problem?

Upright Vacuums Review Waste of Money
This item is a waste of money. If you like spending your hard earn money for something not worthy, then you can buy this item just for wasting your money. If Not, don't even bother yourself of getting one. l could not believe that you can remove your money and buy something that couldn't even work for a second. When l call the company, they told me to take it to a repairer for something you have just bought without using it, then how will it even last up to 90 days. Terrible.

Upright Vacuums Review "Heavy" with Light duty
Yeah, its kinda heavy but unlike the other bagless vacuums, this has the crappy Bissell design where the sucked stuff goes through a flexible hose (that doubles up as the handy tool hose) into the dust collector. In most other vacuums. If something gets lodged into that hose, you are dead. period. I had the problem with a previous bissell but i thought that this was better. stupid of me, yeah. not anymore. its working fine but i won't be using it for largescale cleaning that some more expensive vacuums can do.

Upright Vacuums Review Great bargain
This vacuum was bought to replace an old bag vacuum. This vacuum is 20 times better than my old one. I was amazed at all the dog hair and dust it picked up! Super easy to empty the canister. No complaints yet! Great vacuum for the money.

Upright Vacuums Review Premium priced product that doesn't last, there are better value for money alternates
My DC07 animal is barely two years old and bits are breaking off already. Factor in the high purchase price with the cost of replacement parts and this is a very expensive machine to own. For a lower cost of ownership buy a fantom cyclone, dirt devil cyclone or similar and throw away when it finally breaks down.

I expect premium priced products to have better perfomance and last longer. check out the Consumer Reports, its not even the best vacuum - and the better ones cost less.

The only reason I gave one star is because that is the minimum. 0 stars from me

Upright Vacuums Review Beyond belief
I bought this same dyson new and have yet to be disappointed. I have 3 great danes and 3 cats not to mention my 2 kids and all their friends that over non stop. I was averaging one vacuum every year. I've had this one over a yr and its still going as strong as the day I bought it. I will NEVER buy another brand of vacuum. By far the best vacuum I have ever owned or used.

Upright Vacuums Review Outstanding Performance
Very happy with the purchase. I vaccumed a room with my old vaccum and then used the dyson on the same room. I was suprised to see the amount of dirt this one could suck up again.

Upright Vacuums Review Just another pretty picture
Cool design trying to replicate the expensive bagless vacuum cleaners, but horrible parts. The belt breaks easily (it's kind of toasted) and it shuts down when it's hot (3 minutes) as you can read from everybody else.

Upright Vacuums Review Euro-Pro Shark A Rip Off!
I purchased this vacuum a year ago at Sam's Club. They have replaced it twice over the past year. I'm sick of returning it. The noise is un-godly, the suction is horrible, it clogs, it shuts off on you constantly- and it is a pain in the you know what to clean it out and wash the filters EVERY time you are finished using it. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT!!!!!! This company is a rip off! I'm going back to a bagged vacuum- I never want to even use a bagless vacuum again!
    NO STARS FOR THIS PRODUCT!

    Upright Vacuums Review Horrible buy!
I bought this vacuum as a b'day gift for my mom. Since then, we've had nothing but trouble with it. It cuts off after about 5 mins of vacuuming. It has to cool down. AFter an hour, you cut it back on and do 5 more mins of vacuuming, so it takes you about 3 days to get more than 1 room vacuumed. I've cleaned it numerous times and it still overheats. I definitely wouldn't buy another Shark product.

Upright Vacuums Review Less Than Nil...
This vaccum cleaner does not hold up to even one star. Shark International ought to be ashamed- as well as forced to withdraw this product from market as the fire hazard and all-around general nuisance that it most assuredly has shown itself to be. Please, do not allow yourself to be swayed by a cute design. Do not listen to a smooth sales pitch about the reputation of the manufacturer. Do not fall victim to a low sales price. No design, no reputation, no amount of price reduction can ever make up for the heartache owning this product will create.

Yes, admittedly, it is many of those positive things that have already been said by other reviewers. It most certainly is cute and light weight, but let me tell you, you really are not thinking too much about how good it looks or how little it weighs while the motor is overheating, pouring out its foul electrical smoke, and causing the rubber belts to literally melt right off the roller/beater bar (which, in itself, adds an interesting odor to air you are breathing in your home). Yes, it is quiet, at least it is before that motor begins its dance with danger, then it begins to make a hard-to-describe noise, but one you just know spells "B-A-D" with each revolution of its spindly little motor. Yes, it has a double light to help you see all the dirt, dirt you simply cannot pick up due to the fact that the vacuum stopped working safely during its FIRST DAY of operation. Yes, at first, the bags and the onboard attachments do seem convenient, but that is before the plastic on the parts begin to split and crack, which mine did on the very FIRST DAY of operation. And, of course, that's when you find out that the only place you are ever going to find replacements are online, so, since you are ordering anyway, be prepared to buy a lot of belts and bags too, and to spend much more money on them than they are worth.

Yes, Shark has a Customer Service Department, but it sucks far more than this vacuum cleaner ever did- when it ever did, which, again, I cannot say often enough, ended the FIRST DAY that I tried to use it. After all the bad stuff happens, the only option you will be left with is to pay an exorbitant shipping and insurance cost to send it off for repair by a group of people who have already done everything they can to talk you out of returning it in the first place. (Once you do call, you can tell that you are hardly the first person to have the same problems, as they have obviously rehearsed their entire spiel.) "Customer Service," to Shark simply means "Talk 'em out of whatever you can, then, if you cannot, make it so impossible for them to get any reasonable, affordable service that they just give up and go away."

"Caveat Emptor"- the simple "Buyer Beware"- is not a strong enough warning to the potential buyers of the Shark UP704SH vacuum cleaner. "Fugio Emptor- Velox!"- "Buyer Run Away- Fast!"- is the far, far better, more appropriate phrase.

Upright Vacuums Review This vacuum is a lemon, it overheats constantly, see more...
Ever since we purchased this vacuum, it has overheated constantly. We contacted Europro in an attempt to get it fixed under warranty, but all we got was a run-around. Rude telephone service made the experience even less pleasant. After many conversations, I was told I could send my vacuum to the only place they could repair it, at my own cost, if I insured it first, at my own cost as well, to a place in the United States (I live in Canada). I simply can't afford to do this. I can't afford to buy a new vacuum either. I bought this one when my old vacuum broke after I maintained it in good running shape for 13 years. This one gave me grief in under 3 weeks. My advice is to buy a vacuum form a company that you know will be able to service your product near you. I wish I did.

Upright Vacuums Review before you throw it out...
We've had the Shark Spectra for about a year and a half, and in that time, we've experienced no significant problems with it. I use it to keep two large area rugs and a staircase clean. The suction is good, but admittedly, I never take it off of the highest suction setting. It's plastic so you have to be careful with it, especially when you are changing the bag and filters. I decided early on not to use the paper bag replacements because it was such a pain to get them on right. I use the fabric bag that it comes with and dump out the dust into a separate bag when it comes time to clean. This isn't that messy and saves me fifteen minutes to half an hour wrestling with the paper bag replacements.

A couple of weeks ago the vacuum suddenly lost suction. It was spewing back dust and dirt despite a bag change, filter replacement, and major inspection of its parts. The brush was rotating, so I didn't think that there was a problem with the belt. We were about to throw it out after reading the reviews but at the last minute, I decided to check the belt just in case. Turns out that there was an accumulation of dust and hair blocking the suction hose. There was hair wrapped all around the brush, and I now realize that the brush had only budged because I had manually turned it. So if you lose suction, I would check the suction hose located under the bottom plate that holds the brush in. Also, clean the brush and around the bottom plate, where a lot of dust accumulates. I'm still amazed that we didn't break anything in the process of taking it apart.

The vacuum cleaner is working again. It isn't a high-class vacuum but it works well with area rugs. I would not get this if you have wall-to-wall carpets. I have a feeling that it would fall apart with frequent use.
