Don't let the size fool you!Don't let the size of the Bissell GoVac deter you - it's a hungry little champ! Of course it's not as powerful as a vacuum, so have the right expectations of what you're getting. It's extremely simple to operate and does so at an acceptable volume. It picks up cat hair, cat litter and food from carpeting and the small sized head actually helps get into some tighter spaces. I bought this to replace our Shark which died (and if you've had one you know how it feels to have thrown away that money). After we got our Bissell my mother wanted one too (funny enough to replace her dead Shark!). I would say the only negative is the smaller dust cup. However it holds enough to do the job and is actually very easy (and cleaner) to empty. Also, in the past when I've had a problem with a Bissell product they were there to help and did so politely and quickly - I cannot say the same for the Shark company. Overall this is absolutely a best buy for the money - and with the Bissell reputation behind it I hope we'll be enjoying our GoVac for a long time to come! By the way, Bissell has a rewards program so be sure to register your purchase [UPC code] at their web site to qualify for discounts and special offers.
One of Our Best Purchases This YearThis little sweeper was a *fantastic* purchase. Don't be deceived by it's small size -- it's power is formidible. It picks up everything from pet hair to dust particles to large crumbs on our hardwood, tile, and shag carpeted floors. Yet, its compact size makes it easy on your back (so we don't have to lug the humongous Dyson out as often) and enhances its maneuverability between table legs, chairs, behind the TV, etc. It works for about 20 minutes per charge, which is long enough to spot clean and keep the house under control. We've had it for over four months now, and I'd say our house is at least 200% cleaner because of it, since it's so easy, almost fun, to just whip this little baby out and let her rip. It's not even very noisy (the cat's not afraid of it). The only drawbacks I can think of are because it's a sweeper instead of a vacuum, it cleans only perfectly flat, open, surfaces well. Thus, it doesn't do a good job as a "hand vac" to clean the floor of the car since our car floors aren't perfectly flat (they're undulating). Also, I tried it on the carpet on the stairs, and it doesn't get the dust in the nooks and crannies well. I just use a regular vacuum or dustbuster with a crevice tool for those jobs. Also, it will probably last longer if it is not overcharged on a continual basis. That said, even if this thing lasts only a year, we will gladly repurchase because we have perpetually crumb-generating toddlers, pets, and humans around here and this inexpensive GoVac has raised the quality of our daily life.

Don't even consider another modelLove it, love it, love it! I've had this hand vac for about 6 weeks, and I've used it for everything from getting up cat hair from my sofa, cleaning out pantry shelves, picking up dirt that the cats pulled out of potted plants and this vac hasn't disappointed! Long charge life is also a plus. Haven't found a down-side yet.
Works great! This is the second Shark I have purchased and I love it! It is a great hand held vac! It is a must have for moms with small children. It cleans up quickly!

I can't believe I like a vacuum!I'm in the process of sanding and refinishing fairly old wood floors in the front three rooms of my house. The Dyson sucks the dirt and sawdust from between the cracks. It also works well on the carpet sections that I still have to remove. I have a Siberian Husky, who is currently in the process of "blowing his coat". His fur is very soft and light and flies throughout the house in clumps. For the six years I've had him, this has always been a problem. No vacuum has ever been able to handle the amount of fur without spreading it throughout the air, leaving clumps behind and missing bits of it. The Dyson works REALLY well. No more flying fur, and it gets every bit of it up. Which means that when I finish my floors, I won't have stray dog hairs in my lovely new finish. I also have a cat who tends to shed on the furniture. Yep, it grabs that up as well.
Often, when vacuuming with other brands, there was a smell in the air or dust particles. With the Dyson, it just smells normal and clean...no flying particles either. Did I mention that I have four kids, in addition to the dog and cat? Ah yes, bits of paper, dirt tracked in from outside, cheerios dropped on the floor and smashed underfoot, makeup dust from the teen, koolaid powder from the pre-schooler and so on and so forth. It gets all that up too.
I'm impressed. It's easy for me to handle (I'm 5'1") though a touch heavy to bring upstairs and it solves a lot of my cleaning problems. The price was a deterrent, but I'm glad I bit the bullet and invested in this machine. For someone that hates to clean, I can't wait to do my stairs...my bedroom, the hallway, the dining floor and so on. I can't believe I like a vacuum!
In comparison to all other vacuums I've used (generally in the $70 or so range), this one beats all of them hand down. Vacuums don't last long around here, they simply can't handle all of the dust, dirt, pets, kids, home projects, etc. going on. The Dyson is the first one I can see lasting longer than 2 to 3 years. It's an ingenious design and I love the fact that I simply pull up a switch to empty the bin.
Mine came in two days (shockingly fast), was easy to put together (course, I DID read the instructions) and is easy to use. There are things you need to get used to (placement off on/off button, pressing your foot down to move the handle and the way that you use the wand), but once you figure it out I found it pretty intuitive so it's not a real issue. Mine came in perfect shape - looks new, works well and I really do like this vacuum though it's still difficult to comprehend how I could when I view vacuums as a necessary evil. Still, the fact remains - I really like this vacuum.

FoodSaver roll bagsI have been using FoodSaver products for several years now. I started with the pre made bags so was unsure about the rolls. I finally found the rolls are less expensive and you can roll out any size you need for your food without having to find the premade size bags to fit your items. I bought a new machine that holds those bags and allows you to pull them out, cut them and seal them all in one. I don't know how I ever lived without this product. I have saved more money by buying bulk and packaging up my foods for later. It saves me many trips to town and I am guaranteed my food is fresh when I use them months later.
The two roll box comes in handy when you have a bigger job than expected. I buy a two roll box about every two weeks so I have some on hand for unexpected gifts people bring us like fresh fish, pecans, deer meat, shrimp from the coast. Without our FoodSaver we wouldn't be able to keep our food fresh from one meal to the next! "No one should be without a FoodSaver"

One amazing productThe continuous roll is wonderful you can make the bag so it will fit anything...food items, storage items and personal items. This product can also be washed and reused for extended life.
Nothing like a FoodSaverThese bags are durable and work everytime. I like the size which seems hard to find locally.

Good vacuum bagThis is the only bag I've tried in my vacuum. I have not tried the s-bag classic, which is cheaper and has less filtration. This bag works well. The only problem I have with this bag is when it's full, you are suppose to pull a cardboard flap to close the bag, but it(the bag) is usually overflowing when the vacuum light comes on(telling you to change the bag), and you cannot close the bag. Meaning, the bag is not dust free unless you empty the bag before the vacuum light comes on.
Wonderful! This Electrolux S-Bag Clinic Vacuum Bag is the best! It lasts long and dust and other particles stays in the bag when it's time for a change!

rolls vs. bagsThe 8x11.5" quart bags are more convenient to use, but I figured the 8" x 22' rolls would be more cost-effective. As it turns out, the rolls (at $18.69 for 44 bags' worth - assuming a foot per use) are slightly more expensive than the bags (at $18 for 48), so you might as well get the bags. As for being able to use more or less as needed, I've found that I can re-seal or re-use the bags, thus leaving me an assortment of available sizes when I've used their previous contents. It is occasionally useful to have larger sizes, so I would recommend purchasing the bags in the quart size & the rolls in the larger 11" x 18' to give a wide range of useful applications.
These Are Okay, But I Like the 11" BetterThe basic concept appears sound. Smaller foods need smaller width bags. However, in practice we rarely use the 8 inch width. There are a few things that fit better in the 8 inch width, but considering that almost everything that we routinely use in the kitchen will fit in the 11 inch width, we tend to use that width most of the time.
There is also discussion regarding bags versus rolls. I have used the bags and they are fine. The one advantage the rolls have is that you can custom fit them to things that will not fit into the bags. In some cases, the bags we have are too big, and then we either waste space in a smaller bag, or go back to the roll again.
Though we have a small supply of bags, I suspect that once the bags run out we will probably stick with the rolls, and we will probably stay with the 11 inch width. Choice is such a great thing!
Also consider the canisters that are available to go with any FoodSaver that has an accessory port.

Great VacuumI've had this vacuum for about 3 weeks now and so-far-so-good since it's a re-manufactured item. This vacuum sucks up just about everything and easy to dump the waste. My only complaint and it's not really a complaint...for the money...Dyson should give you more tools. I will probably purchase the long soft brush attachment for picture frames, etc. I would have given it 5 stars, but the price is high with bare minimum tools, and, also, the warranty was not good for the re-manufacture purchase. I would highly recommend this vacuum, especially if you have pets and kids. My home hasn't been this dust-less in years.
Awesome SuctionI read and read the reviews and debated and debated and finally ordered and do not regret making this purchase in the least. I was hesitant about getting a factory reconditioned but even more hesitant about paying $429 for a new one. When it got here, I was a little disappointed when I took it out of the box because it had some scuff marks and the canister was dirty. Once I turned it on and started vacuuming, though, all disappointment left and I have even put more scuff marks on it since and I don't care. It works great! I was dancing around all happy and my husband and daughter looked at me like I was crazy. It was waiting for me when I got home from a trip and I was exhausted but I still vacuumed the whole house! I mainly wanted it because I have a dog and it has been a chore to get her hair out of the carpet, I have allergies, and I love that you don't have to change filters. I just want everyone to know that all I had to do was vacuum over where a huge amount of her (dog) hair was and it all came up easily! I decided not to get the ones with attachments because the reviews were (overall) not positive and I didn't really see myself using them anyway. It does what I bought it for and I have even took it to my two offices (different counties) and vacuumed there and it worked well. I haven't had any problems with it not vacuuming (ratcheting others have spoke of) except once and it was thin carpet so I put it on bare floors and it worked fine. I gave it four stars because even though it is awesome, the wheels and other parts appear to be made from cheap plastic and the price is too much for them to skimp on that.
This vacuum rocksI'm a long time Oreck XL user. I saw the deal for a refurb on passwird.com, so I grabbed one. I can't believe the volume of dirt this thing pulled out of my carpets after they had been cleaned with the Oreck. It is heavier than the Oreck, but the complaints that it's "too heavy" are exaggerated. I also have had no trouble using the attachments. The trick is to completely extend the flexible hose one time. This keeps it from wanting to drag the base unit after you. The overall industrial design is great although I find the placement of the power button a little quirky. Small price to pay. I'd buy it again.

Dyson 14I purchased a reconditioned Dyson 14 because we have 4 dogs. I was amazed at the power and amazed at how much lint and hair the Dyson picked up, even though I thought my carpets were fully vacuumed just a couple of days prior. If just normal upright use without using the attachments and the extension hose is all you want, you won't be sorry.
I'd recommend testing it out, though, if the 17' extension hose is a high priority for you. The hose doesn't seem to loosen up, the upright falls over when I use the hose extension, the attachments don't "snap in" easily and sometimes just fall off. Maybe if you use the hose for a long period of weeks it will loosen up, but I'm tired of the upright falling over on the floor and following me around on its side. I've given up on the extension hose and have begun to attach my old stairway hose to it instead.

Extreme PowerEasy to assemlbe, easy to use, and extremely powerful vs. all of the other uprights that were relatively expensive. Attachments work well. Refurbished model seems to be brand new save for one scratch.
What can I say?Simply put, it's the best vacuum ever! Everything about it is perfect, super strong suction, awesome attachments and the way it extends is "near" perfect.
About the only thing I can think of that I'd like to see different is adding a height adjustment for carpets. In my bedroom I have very thick carpet and in my other bedrooms it's thin. On my master bedroom carpet it tends to leave lines. I usually like lines as it shows you just vacuumed, but this leaves about 4 lines instead of the usual two corner lines.
I was completely amazed when I saw how much dirt, dust and dog hair I got out of my carpet, even AFTER going over it with my old vacuum. I was expecting it to be the best vacuum I have ever used and it is.
