It's true value for money.Quite handy and easy to use on Sofa,bed where you do not want to use your regular vacuum.It's pretty light weight too.With the two select speed you can use it with other surfaces too.Won't replace your bigger vacuum but handy,easy to clean,light weight.

Good to have it as a second vacuum.

My DC07 animal is barely two years old and bits are breaking off already. Factor in the high purchase price with the cost of replacement parts and this is a very expensive machine to own. For a lower cost of ownership buy a fantom cyclone, dirt devil cyclone or similar and throw away when it finally breaks down.

I expect premium priced products to have better perfomance and last longer. check out the Consumer Reports, its not even the best vacuum - and the better ones cost less.

The deal I got thru Amazon with the discounts was fantastic ($395), and shipping time was 2 days-AWESOME!!

The packaging is great-it is designed to allow re-boxing and not just a throw away box. The instructions are simple and thorough. This model has a 3-year warranty but the paperwork did not indicate that, although the website does. But the website would not allow registering it with the 3-year, so I had to call Customer Service---They ALWAYS answer the phone AND my questions, so that was not an issue.

The telescoping/removable handle, the accessories, the ease of use, make this a terrific model. The Animal is similar and and would make a good option since this version is discontinued and you have to jump up to a 14 to get the Full Gear version.

I cannot rave enough about this vacuum-the way the handle/hose setup works it is great for cleaning door & window frames, baseboards, stairs, under chairs, bare floors, vehicles (even though I hate to take it outside)...it even picks up popcorn without moving the kernels all over the floor like other vacuums. The suction is so powerful, that the attachments and handle have air holes to relieve some pressure or it would suck the paint off a wall.

Just an FYI, the only occasional issue is a screech-type noise from the brush system, but the instructions clearly state that it is a safety device so that the brush does not tear up carpet or rugs, or the unit. I found out a lot of people return their units because they do not know this and think it is breaking, or broken.

I did not like to pay the high price, but every other bagless vacuums barely lasts the warranty period, so I hope this one lasts even longer. Only time will tell, but so far this unit is the best I have ever tried.

If you can afford it, go ahead and get one. If you have a Bed, Bath & Beyond nearby, and a coupon for 20% Off of One Item, you can get an 07 Animal for $400 (pick-up only--plus tax) if Amazon does not have a really good deal at the time.

p.s. 4 stars instead of 5 only because of the price.

Hello, we recently took the plunge on this unit, it was expensive, the most we have ever paid for a vac was about $200, but you know the old saying...you get what you pay for....it's true, this machine is clearly the most powerful vac I have ever seen, puts them all to shame. And the fact that I got this little gem for $425 on Amazon is even better, MSRP is $529. Try buying even the lower level dyson at any retailer and you will pay $399 plus taxes, no such taxes on Amazon OR shipping. For those considering Dyson's Animal vac, this is the same exact unit WITH an extra year's warranty (and cheaper at Amazon?)
Now that I have sung it's glories I do have a few minor gripes
no light?, the hand tools don't lock into place and it was expensive. That being said, if you need or want the best vac on the market by the Dyson, your pocket might be hurting a while, but your rugs will never be cleaner.

The cannister is difficult to maneuver- wheels do not rotate. Very clumsy with heavy wand. Suction is poorly on any carpet surface - even low pile. I am very sorry I purchased this dyson.

I happen to own both the upright and canister vac. I purchased the latter item with the intent of using it for quick clean ups and for the stairs. UGH! This item is not only heavy, but very bulky as well. If I could turn back time, I would not have purchased this item. Save your money and get an upright -- Dyson has stellar uprights.

I have two - one in different houses. I do not have wall-to-wall carpet (hate the stuff), so my experience is with wood floors, area rugs (thick and thin), and furniture.

First, the size and ergonomics are very good. Easy to manuever around corners and furniture. Though, the beater head doesn't always let you get under low pieces (but many other vacs don't either).

Next, the DC11 keeps excellent vacuum power all the time. I had both bag and bagless before. They leaked where they could and clogged up sooner than later. Huge pains in the butt. I even had to use hose clamps to keep the 'bag' vac from losing suction - that was real pretty! Anywho, the DC11 hose connections are tight and purposeful. Even the accessory attachments fit tight.

Also, there are some references to this machine making more noise than some. To me, it was reasonably quiet for the power it generates. My other vacs where definitely louder.

There are two ways to empty the dirt. The first is to press the button that unhinges the bottom and the dirt falls out. The other is to take the entire bottom off (a different button) and dump the dirt out, turning the clear plastic cylinders upside down. I do it the latter way because, when I unhinge the very bottom, some dirt always gets on the rubber seal and I have to wipe it off (making sure I get the most secure vacuum seal). However, either way works fine.

The beater bar does sometime bog a little in thicker carpet. If you have alot of carpet, I'd get an upright. For me, the DC11 is perfect. It depends on your floors and use. And if it does stop, just pull the little trigger a the handle and off it goes. Also, I notice that the little round "disc" at the side of the beater that you press to turn off the beater itself, does sometimes need to have the lint cleaned off of it. If this gets too much lint on it, it'll not engage correctly. Not a big problem; just keep this in mine before calling the help line.

Finally, the price. What dollar amount do you put on a clean house? How many other vacs do you buy first? How many bags do you buy? etc... Some people will buy many cheaper items instead of one better and more expensive one. Always buy the best you can afford. It really does pay for itself in the long run.

This vacuum cleaner is ALWAYS getting clogged. It was difficult to assemble. That makes replacing the belt extremely frustrating (yes, in one year it has needed several replacements). The onboard tools fall off.

Dirt Devil should pay me for the time and trouble this awful piece of junk has caused me. Buy something else.

I had the dirtdevil swivel glide for a little under a year. Before my misfortune I had been satisfied with this product and really did enjoy cleaning my home. However, a month ago and for some strange reason the vacuum picked up an odor that I just could not stomach. As any housewife would then do, I elected to have it serviced. I was told the vacuum only needed a belt and some general cleaning. Although,Low and behold when I went to pick up my very missed household helper I was told my vacuum cleaner was given to another customer in error. Was I ever furious. The dealer even had the nerve to ask me if I would settle for a used replacement. Using another person vacuum was strickly out of the question. I am certain you already know what my respone was to this suggestion. All I want for Christmas is my own vacuum or a new Dirtdevil swivel glide with the same features if not better, and no negotiation for a used subsitute, nor do I wish to bargan for a lessor model.The mistake that was made is not my problem. Doing without my vacuum cleaner is my problem. This is a situation that needs to be resoved ASAP by given me a new vacuum and not offering me a used replacement. Don't you agree? I welcome your comments.

I don't know why this vaccum has gotten these bad reviews. The people must be vaccum abusers or something. I've had this vaccum for years and neglect it often and it is still doing great. If it clogs they are super easy to get out and just today, about 4 years after I purchased it do I need to buy a new belt. For the price you won't find anything better. The attachments are great and it keeps my house nice and spify. We allmost sprung for a new one but I popped the hood and it was just a belt that needed replaced. (It's the first time I popped the hood after 4 years too) To get a clog out of the tube you can just take it off and give it a shake, if that doesn't work I put the end of my broom through it and the clog is gone. For a cheaper vaccum this one really does the job!!! I've even sucked up legos! This is the only one you will need.
