Vacuums Review Works well but terrible smell
I purchased this Dirt Devil vacuum after extensive research of vacuum reviews on Amazon and other websites. The suction is very good, but the vacuum cleaner emits a smell of heated plastic that is horrible and quite possibly unhealthy. I don't know if our vacuum is defective or if the smell will go away after a while or if this is just normal. I am keeping the vacuum cleaner because it would be a lot of effort to return it, but I only use it for a few minutes at a time, and only in very well ventilated areas.

Vacuums Review Best vacuum I ever had !!!
This vacuum is great. It works really good on hardwoodfloors and rugs. The suction is really strong.
It is easy to empty the canister. The filter that you got to change once a year is really cheap (just 10 bugs). And it is more quiet as our old upright vaccum!!
The hole vacuum is a lightweihght and the handle is nice adjustable for taller pepole.
Only one little contra - the cord could be longer, but we have enough poweroutlets in the house.

Vacuums Review Good vacuum, great price
I live in a 2 bedroom apartment (~700 sq feet) with hardwood floors and very limited carpeting. I purchased this vacuum to get rid of the dust bunnies created by my 3 very energetic cats. So far the vacuum has great suction, given that the collection container is relatively empty. I'm not quite sure how effective the vacuum would be in a fully carpeted place, but 3 cats can shed enough fur to make an uncarpeted place seem carpeted, or at the very least make fur your most frequently consumed item.

Before purchasing this vacuum, I did a good amount of research on several vacuums, including this one, the Dirt Devil the Euro Pro Shark and the Hoover Telios which all retail around the same price (~$100).

I decided against the Hoover Telios as a couple of reviewers said the wand constantly detached from the hose, which defeats the purpose of the vacuum. As far as the Euro Pro Shark goes, I tried one in Sears and was happy with the suction power but multiple reviewers said the suction power decreased drastically after the first couple of weeks. The bad customer service to go along with decreased suction steered me far away.

Conveniently, the Dirt Devil received a couple of positive reviews. To go with that, Amazon gave me a good discount (~30?, don't quite remember) for opening a credit account.

I'm happy with this vacuum even though it isn't a Dyson or Electrolux which costs 5x more and maybe 2x as effective for my needs.

Vacuums Review So...where can these be purchased in a b&m?
I've had no success in finding the "Y" bags in stores. Anyone know where they are? Please share. Thanks.

Vacuums Review Good Dust Eliminator
I find these bags to be very good in getting the tiny dust particles. Yes, I do find the bags in general to be on the pricy side especially since I have had several rip. At any rate, I have not had a problem with putting the bags on or taking them off. I vaccuumed up something accidentally and needed to remove the bag to get it out. As I attempted to carefully remove the bag (one I had just changed), it ripped right off of the cardboard ring and I had to replace the entire bag. As for the big "Poof" when changing bags, I try to be careful and haven't really had a problem.

Vacuums Review no problems
They're just vacuum bags, nothing special about them. But they're pretty durable, although they do fill up rather quick. No complaints otherwise.

Vacuums Review One more piece that takes space.
This is a large item, about the size of a small lawn mower. It's light weight: that's not a problme. It's $100 bucks, all said an done. It doesn't actually replace a broom: you will still need one for some jobs.

This means it's one more thing to take space and use, and so it has to "pay the rent" to be around your home. In my case, it's a nice thing, but doesn't actually pay the rent.

It picks stuff up, but it's not a lot of fun to empty. When you empty it, at least half the time you spill, so you need a broom to pick up the spillage.

If you have LOTS of concrete with small enough sticks, leaves, grass and other junk, it's useful. I bought it because i have plenty of rental properties and send a crew out with a picjup fool of lawn tools. So this thing is just one more thing.

That also means I bought it with tax-deductible money.

It's not useful at my house. I tried it out there on my deck and patio. Many sticks are too long for it. When things get wet, you have the same proplem as a broom does. My 12-year-old grandson can run it, but emptying it well becomes problematic to him.

In short, this is one more piece that takes up storage space, and is likely not going to be much help to you.

Vacuums Review Not bad...
After reading the reviews, my expectations were really high. But the sweeper does an extremely reasonable job. I use it to clean the driveway after using the mulcher/mower.
But I can't justify the cost and the sweeper is overpriced. This will probably the most expensive broom I'll ever have. But it works.

Vacuums Review Lightweight, Quiet & Effective
If you like a clean driveway after mowing the lawn, but hate the work of sweeping or the noise of a blower, this is the perfect tool. It's assembles in a flash and stores flat against the wall. It gets right up to the edge of the drive, sidewalk or garage wall. Emptying it after cleaning is easy too. Save your back and don't annoy your neighbors. I've only had this 2 days and already my neighbor came over to check it out and said he wants to get one for himself.

Vacuums Review Died after three weeks
For the first three weeks I was very happy with this product. It sealed both bags and canisters quickly and efficiently.

However three weeks after getting it, it completely stopped working. Fortunately Amazon has a very good return policy so I will be getting a replacement. When I get the new one I will give another review after having it a few month or until it dies again.

The FoodSavers used to be made in Italy. Now they are made in China and some people have told me that the quality control has really dropped off

Vacuums Review Doesn't Last
I am now on my 3rd foodsaver in six or seven years. While they are working properly they are great. After about two years, they always seem to stop drawing a vaccuum. The vaccuum pump will run and run but it will not draw a vaccuum. With all the freezing my family does we will continue to keep replacing them because the quality of the vegetables is extended by well over a year. It's worth it to us to replace them every two years. I just wish Tilia would build one at reasonable price that would last about five years.

Vacuums Review A great way to stop wasting money!
Do you find yourself throwing away too much food? You wouldn't if you had one of these. The foodsaver is the best defense against watching your precious food dollars go down the drain. Air is the worst thing for food. Air is what causes foods to spoil. If you vacuum pack your food and freeze it it will last for months and months. That's what the Foodsaver does. Don't be fooled by cheaper imitations. They have fans that pull some of the air out of the bag. The Foodsaver is a professional machine that removes all of the air from the storage bags.

You will be able to save money buy buying foods in bulk. No need to worry that it will spoil before you get to eat it. I go to the meat warehouses and stock up. Then I vacuum pack everything. You can even season your meats before you seal them. Store your leftovers or pre-prepare foods to cook later. The storage bags can be put into boiling water to reheat or cook foods and they can go in the microwave for defrosting foods.

The Foodsaver is not appropriate for everything though. Don't try to store a loaf of bread or a bag of chips. They be crushed because the suction of the unit is too strong. There are special containers that you can buy for things like that. One of the best places to find them is QVC.

NOT JUST FOR FOOD!!!

Do you have something of value that you want to protect? Seal it! You can seal handwritten music, clothing, crafts, games, vintage items that you want to keep away from water or dampness, etc. Take it camping with you or seal items that you want to take with you on a picnic.

The Foodsaver is the best investment I've ever made for my kitchen. You'll be very pleased with it.

Vacuums Review An ok little vacuum
I bought this vacuum because it's supposed to be lightweight but yet powerful. I was excited to open the box once it arrived at my front door. Immediately I put it to the test. At 5'1 and 105 lbs, I don't find it to be lightweight at all. The picture on the box shows a medium size lady holding the vacuum with her 1 finger. I think that's rediculous and misleading. Besides that it cleans pretty well both on carpet and vinyl typed floors. It is on the difficult side when it comes to the manuverability on the carpet, however. I also agree with the previous reviewer on the ease of removal of the dirt canister and the difficulty in cleaning the filter. Overall, I would not recommend buying this vacuum for a 65+ years old lady.

Vacuums Review Good small area vacuum
This is a good small area vacuum that does a very good job of cleaning, but it should not replace a bigger vacuum for house size jobs.

Compared to an average vacuum, this one is smaller and a bit lighter. However, it doesn't seem particularly light in use since the weight is all at the bottom, and the handle doesn't give it as good of leverage as on a standard vac. The cleaning width is also a bit smaller than an average vac.

This vac does clean very well, but I wish it had a few setting for heighth, etc., to optimize it for all conditions. The canister is easy to remove and empty, but it would be nice if there was an easier way to clean the air filter. The filter and belt are clearly marked, so it's easy to buy the correct replacement. BTW, they recommend changing the filter every 6 months.

Two things I disliked. Althought the handle locks well, it does leave a little play. After doing an entire house, this little give increase the stress placed on your wrist. Also, the cord retainer doesn't work well at all. They should have placed a clip on the cord, and a place to attach it.

Overall, a reasonably priced vacuum for people with small areas to clean, but a bit still too heavy for my 79 year old mother to use for the entire house.

Vacuums Review Awesome Vacuum For An Awesome Price
This Dirt Devil Bagless Vacuum is a powerful little machine. Its lightweight and great if you have a smaller home or only need it for small jobs. Even if you have a large home but can only afford a inexpensive vacuum, then this little baby is for you too (you may just have to empty the cannister a few extra times). Its easy to manipulate and its suction is absolutely unbelievable. You will be shocked at how much "it sucks". Its great. Besides its regular function, the cannister is easy to empty after use and the hose attachment is convenient as well, especially for nooks the vacuum won't fit in and for doing your steps. It also works equally well on both carpet and tile/wooden floors.

There's nothing really bad to say about this vacuum for its meager price tag. I would easily pay twice as much for the same machine. All in all, a great vacuum for a small price.

Vacuums Review Amazon.com Delivers.....Used Coffee Mugs
If you're in the market for a used Nissan coffee mug, then step right up and order from Amazon.com!

So you're probably thinking, yes, maybe I would like a used coffee mug. How about a used coffee mug with dried, brown coffee stains still in it...And how about with the fresh aroma of a...what does that smell like, ah, Vanilla Latte I believe it is.

If you're still interested, continue ordering, but be advised as customer service will be unwilling to compensate you for any issues you may have with receiving a dirty mug in the mail. I think Nissan stainless makes a nice product, but I would
suggest ordering from SOMEWHERE ELSE!!!

Hip, Hip, Boooooo

Vacuums Review About as "Spill-Resistant" as a Colander...
Well, other reviewers have extolled the virtues of this mug---including its supposed spill-resistant top.

I'm here to dispell this myth.

Our old mugs (Starbucks, heh!) were junky, and leaky as hell. We'd put them in our lunchbox, standing straight up, and they'd somehow leak everywhere. So, I was in search of something nice, and Thermos' Nissan line is pretty infamous. The little latch lever mechanism looked ingenious, and several people talked about how it won't spill.

I received my two new mugs a couple of days ago. Put coffee in them, excited that I would no longer have to fear coffee stains on my lunch cooler and car. Boy, was I ever wrong. You might as well not even have the dang stopper mechanism, because if the thing tips over with liquid inside, it comes pouring out. The seal on the plug that stops up the sipping hole is useless; this is mainly because the actual lever mechanism provides very little pressure against the hole when closed. As a result, you have, in essence, a failed product. It should be recalled.

What good is a "travel" mug if the thing leaks everywhere? I might as well take a regular open-top ceramic mug in the car, because it would spill just as much. And no, it's not defective, because I bought two, and both of them leak the same. I'm returning them, and have ordered Nissan's "Leak-Proof" model. We'll see if that lives up to the name.

The only reason it gets two stars is because it does live up to half of my expectations: at least it kept my coffee hot. But what good is hot coffee when it's all over your car seat? I urge you, buy the "leak-proof" model. Stay away from this one, unless you're looking for a "travel" mug that leaks everywhere.

Vacuums Review Some Like It Hotter
As with many other products on Amazon.com, the "Ultimate" earned pretty much of a bimodal distribution: People seem to basically love or really dislike the "Travel Tumbler." Either the quality control at Nissan is terrible (i.e., people are getting tumblers that differ greatly in quality), or the reviews themselves are just not very reliable. Coffee lovers may be a pretty emotional bunch when it comes to their preferred caffeine delivery method, and some of the complaints seem steeped more in emotion than practicality. I'll try clarifying the bases of my own evaluation, which places the "Ultimate's" performance somewhere between the very good/very bad polarity I see here.

1.LEAKING: Unlike what one person said, it does NOT leak like a "colander." When you squeeze the handle-like mechanism, a small hole at the top of the lid depresses. The problem is that this coffee will drain though the "covered" hole, albeit very slowly: If I lift the cup WITHOUT squeezing the "HANDLE" as if to take a sip, a slow, very small stream of coffee comes out the apparently sealed top. Although the product description above touts that the container is spill-proof, rather than leak-proof, this slight leakage is psychologically annoying given the price and the expected performance. Practically speaking, however, it's not that important: You won't leak or spill a hot beverage if the "tumbler" is basically upright. The rubberized grip surrounding the center provides a comfortable and secure grip.
2.COFFEE NOSE: Other Nissan beverage holders have drinkers complaining that residual liquid on the top of the lid leaves a spot on their noses when they go for their next sip. It's true that a small amount of liquid is left (and this, too, will spill if, for some muckraking reason, you choose to hold the tumbler upside-down to disprove the anti-spill claims of Nissan), but it settles down far enough from where you drink that it leaves your nose alone, which is exactly what it should do.
3.TEMPERATURE: I found that it does NOT keep my beverage very hot for hours. At 45 minutes, my coffee was still very hot, but noticeable cooling occurred after about an hour. You can minimize temperature reduction by pre-warming the tumbler with very, very hot water, and filling it with the hottest possible drink possible. However, even the double steel container doesn't hold in the heat nearly as well as the Nissan thermos. This is probably the biggest disappointment, although a fairly negligible one personally (my longest drive is generally about an hour). Those who insist on very hot coffee for periods of one hour or more, however, may be disappointed.
4.CLEANING: Yes, there is a small white ring around the top of the container for insulation. I have not had any problem with accumulated debris, odors, or with other nasty things that reviewers have described. Simply cleaning it after each use should do the trick; I'll update this review if I find the tumbler particularly resistant to cleaning. However, other Nissan travel mugs either have similar problems or don't have the convenient squeeze handle.

Recommendation: Resistant to leaking and unlikely to spill, the Nissan still fails to meet expectations, especially given the cost. A more important problem, then, is that its heat retention is unsatisfactory for periods much longer than an hour. My recommendation (one that I wish I had heard before) is to wait for more current reviews of the commuter mug rated #1 by the venerable "Wall Street Journal," but not yet available due to current demand: The Zojirushi Tumbler (http: //www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00004S57G/qid=1137462602/sr=1-25/ref=sr_1_25/103-7519344-0327817?%5Fencoding=UTF8&v=glance&n=284507). The Nissan 14-Ounce Leak-Proof Insulated Travel Mug, though not without its critics, also looks promising.

Vacuums Review Puppy problems solved!
My husband and I have a 10 month old puppy and one who is six weeks old. The oldest is housetrained, but now we are starting over with a puppy who will proceed to use our kitchen floor as his bathroom until he learns better. We bought this cleaner tonight at Target (sale right now where you can buy the Floormate for $129.99 and get a $30 Target gift card for Free!!) We debated this purchase for a while, but we are thrilled with the initial results... the water in the tank after we tried it in the kitchen was so horrifying that we immediately set about cleaning the wood foyer that we did not even think was dirty... think again!! We are very pleased and will update our review if our opinion changes. As of right now, I don't know how we ever got through the puppy stage without this last time!!! Quick note - We found that using half the amount of cleaner called for works well with no residue! Enjoy an easy mopping experience!!

Vacuums Review hands and knees clean
This is a wonderful invention. It gets under the cabinets and right up against molding. It even pulled stuff out from under a wooden threshold between the kitchen tile and the dining room carpet. Very easy to use. I keep it handy for spills and puppy accidents.
