Never again will we buy HooverWe purchased a Hoover bagless canister last year. The electrical connection between the hose and wand broke due to a very poor design. Never again will we buy Hoover.
Heavy weight, Super sucking machine. It sure sucks everything up including carpet itself. I'm concerned that my carpet will be paper thin in few years. Long cord is good, but both body and wind tunnel part are so heavy to carry around the house and it is not made for wood floor at all. I don't think it's worth the money and I don't recommend anyone to buy it.
Works fine, no problems whatsoeverI'm not sure why there are several negative reviews for this vacuum. It has a great price, works well on my carpets and floors, and is very easy to use. What's not to like?
Bottom line: I would not hesitate to buy another S3755 if I needed another vacuum cleaner.

Pays For ItselfThis filter has saved me money by not having to purchase replacment filters. Easy to clean and does a good job.
Best Idea since sliced bread! This is a product long overdue in the air cleaner market. I have two of the JDS 750 air cleaners in my little shop and they move a lot of air. If I hadn't bought the electro-static pre- filter I would have spent a fortune on replacement filters by now. Now that JDS packages it with their standard air cleaner, it is even a better deal!
This isn't the cheapest pre-filter in the world, but it is a darn good investment for the long haul.

Great Quality and SizeMy Mom asked for one of these to replace some $200 carafe she had broken that came from William Sonoma. The one from William Sonoma seemed grossly overpriced to me so I bought this one based on reviews from others. My Mom liked it even better than her old one! I bought one for myself at the same time and enjoyed serving tea to guests in it. It's not too big to be too heavy but it holds enough tea for 4-6 people. Perfect.
Great productI love my new Alfi Albergo Carafe. Nice quality, liter size works well, and the tea filter is great. We have been amazed that it holds the heat as long as twelve hours on occasion. Great product.

Not impressedThe Hoover sidewinder I purchased was used for the carpeted steps in my home. On the first use, the rotating brush stopped working and the machine began to smoke. When I called Hoover unsatisfied, they refused to take the machine back and told me to go get it serviced. I did this, and on the second use I had the same problem. The suction was great, but the brush kept getting stuck. I had to manually get it rotating after vaccuming each step. I once again was told to get it serviced....the service man said that the belt was stretched out. I was shocked that after 2 uses it needed a new belt.
I am so unhappy with this product and with customer service of Hoover. Obviously the machine is defective, and yet they won't refund my money or exchange the product.

Hoover Sidewinder Hand VacIf you have pet hair on your furniture, this is the hand vac for you. The beater brush feature is indispensible for removing stubborn cat or dog hair from cushions while it "beats" the dust out for the vacuum to suck up. It has a nice long cord and the power head can swivel sideways to reach difficult places. Be careful about getting your fingers caught in the spinning brush when turning the head and locking it into place, however.
My second one of these hand vacuumsMy 30 year old Hoover died, found this updated replacement.
Swivel head is very nice. Hope it lasts as long at my first.
This is a good machine for stuffed furniture, stairs, cars, boats, etc.

Essentially Useless after 6 months use.I would not buy this vacuum if I had to do it again. I had the same problem that other customers reported with the roller getting stuck. Even after checking to make sure there is no hair caught up in it, it still doesn't budge. I went over a carpet patch where there was a small but visible ball of dog hair lying loose on top of the carpet and even after going back and forth over it MANY times not a single bit of it was picked up by this vacuum. Plus, each time I use it I spend(waste) an absurd amount of time cleaning every filter, the roller and even unscrewing the base to clean it out = hoping it will result in greater suction but the performance has still been declining since the first use. These are the reasons this vacuum is cheap, but if it only lasts for six months before losing all suction I think you'd get more for your money by saving up for a more expensive vacuum that lasts.
Don't waste your money!I've had this vacuum for one year and had to replace the roller brush 4 times! The 1st 3 I got free from the company and the last I had to buy for $25. They claim the roller is not covered under the warranty. The roller will seize up and melt after about 3 months, the last one I got has lasted me one month. I will NEVER buy another Bissell product again. There customer service stunk and when I took it to an authorized dealer he told me thats what happens when it picks up hair.... uh, duh it's a vacuum, what is it supposed to be picking up... fairy dust? Don't waste your time or money on this hunk of junk! I just went out and bought a Hoover, I hope I have better luck.
A very good vacuum for the price I have been using a Bissell for three years and it still works fine. Since it is three years old, I don't know which model number it corresponds to now but it was $89 from Wal-mart so probably was the low end of the Bissell line. Even though I have regular pile carpeting, the vacuum needs to be set to the highest height level to keep the brush spinning freely. I think the people that are having trouble with the brush are setting the height too low. I wouldn't recommend it for shag carpeting. I clean the hair off of the brush every time I use it and have done this for all vacuums I've owned. The filters do have to be cleaned but they are reusable rather than disposable therefore saving $. Buy a second set of filters so you have one to use while the other is drying out. If you don't want to maintain the filters look for a vacuum that uses bags. If you are vacuuming large particles like sand use the brush attachment. Suction can be lost if the hose is clogged so check it first (especially if you are picking up paper, leaves, or mulch). It is loud and heavy but it works well and won't break the bank.

I used to like vacuuming...Now I am just annoyed with it. I agree with everyone else on this page who has had problems with this vacuum. I am amazed that I have the exact same problems! I wish I would have known all this before I bought it a year ago. Belts pop off, hose pops out while you're vacuuming, it's VERY noisy, it's VERY messy to empty the canister/filters (all that dust gets back into the air!), and the hard floor setting spits dirt back at you instead of sucking. I am very disappointed in this vacuum. Not what I would have expected from a Hoover. Probably the most annoying thing about this vacuum is the noise. I can't wait to find a vacuum that is QUIET and easy to maintain so vacuuming becomes fun again.
Good performance, not so user friendly.Well I looked around and find places like amazon really helpful. A place like consumer reports is nice, but sometimes I feel they are driven by factors other than the consumer's interests. Amazon is the closest thing I've found to real customer feedback.
As for the Hoover Windtunnel U5753-900:
Pros: It's a very powerful Vacuum cleaner. It does a really good job at getting up pet hair, dust, and dirt. The dirt finder is a really cool option. I'm surprised at sometimes when I can't see stuff with the naked eye the dirt finder can tell me if the vacuum is still picking up dirt. The hoover seems to be solidly built. It's a very well priced vacuum for it's performance level. It's tools are logically laid out and easy to use.
Cons: There are two major cons to this vacuum. One it's noisy. That really doesn't bother me, as I've owned hoovers in the past and they all seem to be sort of noisy. That's a small downside to me, but others may find it more annoying. The major downside is emptying the vacuum. This does not seem like a very well though out design. I have figured out a trick to cleaning the vacuum that I'll explain later. But you cannot empty this vacuum cleaner in the house. It's clumsy and not at all simple to remove dirt from the vacuum.
My trick to emptying and cleaning this vacuum are to use my garage shop vac in my driveway with the bristle tool. It makes cleaning the hoover a very easy task. 2 minutes tops. That being said I shouldn't have to use a seperate vacuum to clean my new vacuum. Not to mention not everyone has the luxury, need, or desire to own a second vacuum cleaner for messy duties.
The windtunnel's majors selling point is it's performance price point. If Hoover came up with a better design to empty this vacuum they'd earn much higher marks from me. As it stands this vacuum gets a broze metal. Close, but needs improvement in it's emptying design.

Great VacuumThis vacuum is awesome! The suction is very powerful! I have shedding dogs and this vacuum works wonders getting all the hair off the furniture, but there is a downside. When you switch it to hard floor setting it spits out dirt rather than sucking it up.

Disappointed...I fell in love with the Swivel Sweeper at my cousin's house, where I babysit 3 preschoolers four days a week, and couldn't wait to buy one myself. Unfortunately, I second guessed myself after reading some negative reviews of the Swivel Sweeper and purchased this more positively-reviewed (and more expensive) Bissell sweeper about 4 months ago. Big mistake! I've been kicking myself ever since.
The Bissell sweeper doesn't pick up nearly as well as the S.Sweeper and tends to throw the dirt all over the floor - usually to a place where you just swept. The wheels and handle are stiff (lubricating didn't help), making it difficult to maneuver. It's bulky and too tall to fit under many pieces of furniture, whereas the S.S. has a much lower profile. The S.S. picks up most dirt on the first pass; with the Bissell, I'm having to constantly go back and forth over the same spot. By far, the greatest advantage of the S.S. is it's ability to swivel 360 degrees. At my cousin's house I can stand in one spot and just swing the S.S. around on the hardwoods at every-which-angle. It's light and rolls beautifully. The Bissell's wheels grip the floor and seem stiff - a great disadvantage. It's like steering a truck - you have to do multiple K-turns and parallel parking-type maneuvers to move it around - sometimes it's just easier to pick it up off the floor and move it to where you need it. As for corners and edges, the S.S. does a better job.
Buyers of the S.S. complained that it appears "junky", and that there are problems keeping a charge. My cousin has owned her Swivel Sweeper for about a year. It's used numerous times a day, and she has had zero problems with it. On the other hand, the right-hand rotating edge brush on my Bissell quit working after about 2 months. As for the S.S. fragile appearance, don't judge a book by it's cover. The Bissell looks great and appears sturdy and substantial, but in my opinion is the lesser product by far.

Great, as a disposable sweeperWe've had the 2800 sweeper for about a year now, and it was great for the first six months. We use this sweeper for about 10 minutes, 3 times a day after meals with the kids. After six months of daily use we noticed the battery life started deteriorating. Instead of getting a few days out of each charge, it went to every other day, then every day, now it barely stays running for 3 minutes. I know some batteries have memory, so I let the thing run down to zero, completely charged it and repeated (four times). The battery cannot be saved, or changed, for that matter. When I called customer service to see what I could do about the battery, they said since it was out of warranty there was nothing I could do unless I wanted to take it to one of their approved service centers. Since there is no way I'm paying $60 to fix a sweeper that only cost $50 (at the time), I guess I'll just throw it away. The only reason I gave this item 3 stars instead of one was that we actually got great use out of it for six months, and pretty good use for another three. But since I can't fix this or access the battery, I will not buy another one. The Shark, at least, lets you replace some parts. Bissell should take note.
Great Little SweeperJust read the reviews of the Bissell 2800B Sweeper. I've had mine, now, for a year and a half, and I think it does a great job. True, it is not a vacuum, but it does do the in-between job of picking up debris from carpets and hard surfaces. With 9 cats and a dog--plus living in the woods--we get a ton of pet hair and dirt, twigs, etc., tracked into the house. It helps to keep the house tidied up, until we do a regular vacuuming.
