Vacuums Review Designed to remove smoke, odor, and pollen
At the JDS web site, they list this charcoal filter for the JDS 750, as intended to remove smoke, odor, and pollen from the air. I did not see any mention of using it as a paint fumes remover. It also should not in any way be used as an over spray clearer. I had a body shop for twenty years. We used special explosion proof motors for the wall fans, and one in the ceiling stack for the booth, because the build up of flammable paint over spray can be a fire hazard. Additionally, if over spray got near the JDS 750 air cleaner, it would clog at least the initial filter, and since you couldn't clean it properly, it would be rendered useless. The electrostatic pre-filter that comes with this unit is great for removing airborne dust particles etc. It is super easy to clean. It slides right out of the unit, without having to do any disassembly. I use a standard shop vac, to quickly reverse suck the dust out of it. No waiting for the pre filter to dry. If you have the time, gently washing it is the way to go. With the rigid wire mesh protecting it, using a vacuum doesn't damage it, and it a lot more convenient. Back to the charcoal filter.
If you working with someone who smokes, and doesn't bathe as often as you would like, and has a habit of taking a run through the ragweed before coming into the shop, the charcoal filter is just what the doctor ordered. :-) No seriously, it is great for those three things, eliminating smoke, odor, and pollen. Refinishing is best done in the garage, or a dedicated area, with fumes venting outside. Post filters are nice. No matter what you do, for the first 24 hours, you are going to get fumes coming off of the finish. It is a constant source, meeting up with a constant air filtration. (If you leave it running all night) Since it takes a certain amount of time for the filter to work, and the finish emitting fumes is non-stop, I guess you know who will win that race.
The garage is ideal for refinishing. During the summer it is great. During the winter, I use a salamander kerosene forced air heater on the floor with a thermostat. I refinish in the morning, and leave it running during the day. By the end of the day, the finish is baked so nice, it doesn't matter if it gets cold during the night. You don't want to spray refinish with the salamander going at the same time though. It not only is a fire hazard, it also wreaks havoc on your finish. What it does is take the over spray particles, and instantly turn them into baked hard tiny pellets, that are especially well suited to sticking on your finish, and sends them blowing into your shop, rising with the heated air, only to settle down onto your project. Net result, a heavy dust nubbed finish.
I just felt like I should say something about the suitability of this filter for refinishing. Hope it helps.

Vacuums Review Great addition for the JDS air cleaner
If you do any finishing/painting in your shop and you have the JDS air cleaner, get this charcoal filter as well. JDS recommends that you only insert it when you need it, ie., when applying a finish to your projects. Otherwise, keep it on a shelf in a plastic bag to keep the charcoal fresh and free of dust. I would imagine this would be recommended for a charcoal filter used on any brand of air cleaner.

The filter replaces the blue fabric diffuser at the exhaust end of the JDS 750. It's pretty easy to install and remove.

Vacuums Review DON'T MISS THE FINE PRINT!
Carefully note that this item is shipped WITHOUT BATTERY! If you have other 9.6V Makita tools this might be OK, but I don't, and I didn't read the description carefully before ordering.

So now it's time to evaluate the additional cost of a battery and charger AND THEN determine whether the performance is worth the (total) price.

Vacuums Review Finally a cordless vac that gets in the cracks!
This sweeper is near perfect, and I've tried them all.
Will do 1,000 sq ft plus on the lower powered, cheaper, stick battery. we bought the battery for 33.00 at home depot, since we already had a pod style charger.
Be aware you need to buy a stick battery and will need the correct charger to go with it, to run this vac!
I love the extended pole on the END of the vac. I can now clean in areas that no other cordless sweeper could reach before.
The wide handle is a little fatiguing on my small hand, but I'll get accustomed to it.
Won't do carpets, but on the plus side, there is no brush roll to get tangled with hair.
This vac is great for a house that is mostly hard floors with kids that drop crumbs and track in leaves. gets up dust and hair as well.

Vacuums Review Fantastic for FLOOR!!
I love this for our floor. This vacuum works great for me to pick up all the stuff from the floor before I mop or just every few days for maintenance work. It's light-weight and easy to use. The only time I have to bend down is to get under the couch. I would NOT recommend this on carpet, but it's great on tiles and wood floor which is what we have. I've been able to avoid lots of major mopping before company arrives by just using this vacuum.

Vacuums Review THIS IS POORLY DESIGNED
I AM A HEAD PORTER SO I KNOW AIRFLOW.YOU WILL GET BETTER AIR FLOW JUST BENDING YOU HOSE.WHEN THEY SAY IT IMPROVES AIRFLOW THEY ARE WRONG AND HAVE KNOW IDEA WHAT THEY ARE TALKING ABOUT AND I WONDER IF THEY OWN PART OF THE COMPANY .THE INNER DIAMETER IS REDUCED TO 3 INCHES OR LESS BY A VERY SHARP CORNER SLOWING DOWN AND REDUCING AIRFLOW ALOT. IF YOU DO BUY THIS POORLY DESIGNED ELBOW. TAKE A FILE OR DREMMEL TOOL TO SMOOTH OUT THE RIDGE. THAT WILL INCREASE AIRFLOW ALOT.ESPECIALY IF YOU HAVE A WEEK DUST COLLECTOR YOU NEED TO.IT WILL ADD ABOUT 300CFM OR MORE AIRFLOW. THATS LIKE CAMPARING A 700CFM CARB. TO A 1000CARB.ITS A BIG DIFFERANCE.IF YOU DONT HAVE TO BEND YOUR HOSE AS MUCH AS THE ELBOW DONT USE IT. AIRFLOW IS MORE VALUBLE THEN LOOKS.ANYONE SAYING THERE ARE NO RIDGES IN THIS ELBOW WELL THATS A PLAN OUT (LIE)AND REDICULOUS. THIS WAS A HONEST REVIEW. GOOD LUCK

Vacuums Review Technicals
When installing a dust collection system, eliminating resistance to airflow is what it is all about. The ideal is as large a pipe as possible, flowing in a straight line, without any ridges in the surface. Of course in the real world at least some of these things wind up being less than ideal. What this Jet 4" elbow does, is give you a large pipe, that makes a gradual turn as opposed to a straight 90 degree angle, and the sides of the elbow are smooth. So when you need to make a turn with your air flow, this elbow does the nicest job.
The fit snugs neatly inside the standard 4" flex pipe. With some 4" Jet wire clamps which are also highly recommended over standard pipe-band clamps and this Jet elbow your all set for some hassle free collecting.

Vacuums Review Good enough!
I attached this elbow directly to the intake port of my Jet dust collector. If you don't suspend your 4" hose from above, then using this elbow allows you to run the flex hose horizontally to a piece of equipment (also saving hose length). May not be completely necessary, but it does take the stress off the hose, especially if you move it around a lot.

Vacuums Review Worst ever
I had an old Sears vacuum that I used for 26 years and never had a problem with. I was determined to find another vacuum with "onboard" attachments. I mean who wants to hold attachments in your pocket as you go around the house? Well, this was touted as having "onboard" attachments but that is at best, a great exaggeration. It has a flimsy little attachment that you connect to the back of the vaccum every time you use it and you can hook up a few of the attachments to that. But don't think you can store it that way. No. The attachment gadget attaches on the back of the vacuum so if you store it standing up it knocks off all the attachments - something that also happens every time you go around a corner with those things on the machine. So now I have the vacuum stored in one closet and all the attachments on the top shelf of another.

I agree with the reviewer who complained about the handle turning to right. I too spent an hour trying to figure out what was wrong with the wand and why the handle only turns to the right. What a design flaw! My arm aches after only one room because I am constantly trying to keep the floor attachment straight and have to fight it as it tries to flop to the right. Then if I need to turn to the left, I have to fight the whole machine.

I disagree about the suction being too strong. That is a good thing. And it is easy to turn down. but I HATE the fact that the turn on/off switch is on the body of the machine and not on the top of the handle (as every other vacuum does). This means that because it is a cannister you have to run back to the body to turn off the vacuum every time you need to. And I need to a lot. Things get sucked up that shouldn't, or you have to move a piece of furniture and don't want it running the whole time, etc. You would be amazed at how many times you need to turn the thing off while you are using it. (True of all vacuums of course). Thing is, because you have to go back to the cannister to do this, it can be a real pain.

Moreover, I have used this vacuum 5 times and since the second time, the main floor attachment has been squealing and when I tried to take it apart to clean it, I noticed it was only attached with ONE screw and all the rest of the screw holes were empty. Is this a refurbished machine being sold? Now I have to take it in to be serviced and hope that it is determined to be something under their warranty. The Electrolux people weren't very encouraging and did their best to hedge as to whether the noise would be covered under the warranty.

All in all, between the attachments I have to hold in my hand/pocket while cleaning, the wand turning to the right only, and the poor performance practically right out of the box, I would say this vacuum is terrible. Even though I got it on sale for 449.99 instead of 600.00 I still feel like I got ripped off.

I would give it no stars if possible, but one star is the lowest rating available.

Vacuums Review I agree with Drew M ...... the worst vacuum I've ever spent $300 on
Everything Drew (the single guy) said is true. I would never buy this again, and am not ever sure that I'd feel right selling it used to anyone. My biggest complaints - it tips over at the slightest hangup on a piece of furniture or doorway, the fact that the handle only turns one say (Drew is right...it's absurd...and my hand hurts afterwards from trying to keep the power nozzle in line), and my retractable cord is broken after about four uses..it won't retract any longer.

Don't buy it - shop around a bit.

Vacuums Review I like the vacuum, but you gotta like canisters
Most of the objections I read about this vacuum were problems associated with canister vacuums. They all have the motor dragging behind, like one review hated. They better have good suction! ( I can't believe anyone objected to too much suction!) Just adjust the suction on the HANDLE if you are attempting to vacuum tassles on rugs.
What I like about a canister is that you have the flexibility for use above the floor, like stairs, furniture, and under beds without moving the bed....And going from hardwood flooring to carpet just by flipping the on/off switch on the handle for the motorized head. Canisters take some getting used too. You have to keep in mind that you are dragging around the motor behind you instead of pushing it in front of you. However you are not lifting the entire thing every time you want to go above the floor. It is nice to pop off that beater bar head and put on the furniture head to do the chairs. And with the longer hose it does steps nicely.
I like the true hepa filter, (the air is definitely cleaner)and the lightweight and sleek design. The wheels roll much nicer and it is infinitely quieter than my old Eureka Power Boss canister.
I do object to the Electrolux name. It is not the Electrolux that we grew up with. Today's Electrolux's are $1500+. So if you see one for $299, as this one was.... I think you could guess that is not the same thing.
It is best for someone who has alot of multi surface (carpet or rugs to bare floor) cleaning.
I really like this Electrolux/Eureka.

Vacuums Review Bosch Canister Vac 2222
Have hardwood floors and oriental carpets in home and needed vacuum without beater brushes and lots of suction. This requirement rules out uprights... period. This vacuum works great. Extremely light and can carry canister and vacuum at same time. Quiet too! Can adjust suction.

Vacuums Review The right tool for the job.
This vacuum cleaner is quiet, efficient, easy to carry around.
It sucks up coins even on it's lowest setting, so be careful to pick up first.
It is made for hardwood floors, and it excells at cleaning them.
It is quiet enough, that even on it's highest setting, I can still hear the phone ring.
The built in cord is 17', which sounds like a long enough cord, but really isn't.
Fortunately our house, like most others, has plenty of outlets.
It is built in Germany, so you know it is a quality product made to last.

Vacuums Review Not impressed, returned it.
Loses power quickly.

Very messy to clean, a job that required a trip outside each time.

Power settings are functionless, I mean who is going to vacuum on any setting other than the highest.

Vacuums Review So Far Great!!!
I bought this vacuum after reading so many confusing reviews that I thought I should write one myself.
I paid 99 bucks for it at Sears and for that much I have to say it is a great machine. It collected so much dust off my carpet that I was disgusted.
I have only used it 3 times so my review might change in the future but for now I give it 5 stars.
Yes it has minor problems, like the power cord being in the way of the hose and little things like that. But for me what really matters is how well it cleans my carpet, how long it lasts and how easy it is to clean.
BTW it is very easy to clean. I heard a lot of people complaining about cleaning this vacuum and I cannot comprehend why.
Bottom line it works great but if you are really picky buy a Dyson for 599.00

Vacuums Review A Sturdy and Powerful Machine! Works Great!!
I am very impressed with this Vacuum. I've never had a Vacuum cleaner that picked up so much dust and debris. I was surprised when I used it the first time around. I could not believe, my living-room was so dirty. It does a great job and gets to the bottom of the carpet and pulls out fine dust and small hair! I think this also has the wall-hugging technology/feature, as I have noticed it picking up small stuff from the corners...unlike my old vacuum. This is a much stronger and better machine than my old Bissell. I have always preferred Hoover over Bissell. And I could not wait to get the new EmPower as soon as my Bissell died on me.

EmPower is great but it needs cleaning after each use!!! Which for me, is not a big deal; I just take it outside, empty the dust container in the trash bin and wash it ... takes only a minute to do that. Also the HEPA filter requires a little bit of cleaning. I slowly tap the filter from the rim and clean it with a paper towel and put it back together. I agree, it's a little messy, but I can deal with my hands being dusty for a few minutes, rather than dusty rooms!!

The Hush Button is USELESS, it does not make much of a difference in the noise level. The power surge feature could come handy, I guess - no comments, as I have not used it! The Vaccum is very well built, but I am not very happy with the accessories, they are made of cheap plastic, you would think, a brand like Hoover would be have given good quality accessories too ?? !! hmmm ... not really !

Overall this is a very good product. I think it's an imitation of Dyson for much less. And I give it a FIVE-STAR rating. Go for it, if you can spare a few minutes of cleaning after each use... if cleaning is not an option for you - then NO Bagless Vacuum would serve the purpose as all Bagless Vacuums require some amount of cleaning.

Vacuums Review How on earth does it open?
Unfortunately, although this pump pot is quite beautiful, I will probably never use it because I can't get it open. There are no instructions and no pictures. Darn shame.

Vacuums Review Excellent party server at a good price point
These hot pots are a wonderful thing to have if you entertain. If you normally make a 12-cup pot of coffee, it will barely serve a dinner party of six or so. And what about seconds? If you make several pots of coffee ahead of time and put them in the preheated air pot, serving coffee with dessert will be easy. And for progressive suppers, church functions, potlucks, there just isn't anything better than this. Simple to serve and keeps the beverage hot. I have three--one for regular, one for decaf and one for hot water.
