Vacuums Review Consider before purchase:
This is supposed to be a travel mug. The closure for the drinking lip attaches to the mug lid with a tension, two bar slip in slot. In three weeks of daily use the closure came off at least three times per day and finally is lost. A minor bump dislodges the closure. I wasted my money.

Vacuums Review Heed these reviews!
I had read the reviews and still ordered this cup. The first one we received, the pop top was broken. The second one lasted a week before the screw top wouldn't stay on anymore.

Really disappointed, especially considering the price.

Vacuums Review Not bad if you like your coffee black, but not great either
I give this three stars because it keeps the coffee warm, and when I first got it, it made pretty decent coffee. Unfortunately, the press part has stopped reliably staying put at the end of the plunger, and so it often doesn't depress fully--the plunger depresses all the way, and the press slips. In addition, if you want to add either milk or sugar to your coffee AND drink it from your travel mug, you should get a different sort of travel mug. It hadn't occurred to me before I bought it, but not only is adding milk to the coffee difficult w/ this mug, it ends up tasting odd, perhaps because of the press, or because of the grounds still in the mug. So, if you drink your coffee black, like the french press method, and are willing to take your chances with the plunger on this, it may be worth the money. I wouldn't get it again.

Vacuums Review Fun to watch--good experience
My experience with Amazon and iRobot company has been excellent for this purchase. I bought the reconditioned model through Amazon in February and it had a three-month warranty. I suspected it was defective because would not hold a charge (maximum run time was 10 minutes), though I didn't give up on it quickly. Eventually I went to the iRobot web site for troubleshooting and discovered you could download a manual which I did and in reading it discovered I had a problem that required a call to the customer service.

Before the three months warranty expired, I contacted iRobot (hint--call first thing when their customer service lines open for fastest results) and they recognized the problem immediately, told me the charger was defective and had harmed my Roomba. They had me ship the Roomba and charger back to them which they would replace. I received the brand new Roomba and charger yesterday and it charged up and works perfectly.

So, don't be afraid to buy a reconditioned model at half the price of a new one.

Vacuums Review No more dog hair!
We have a dog who sheds the equivalent of a whole other dog every week. He's a terrific dog, but the dog hair never stopped, and it seemed like we couldn't groom, sweep and vaccum enough.

Enter Roomba.

I ordered the reconditioned one, which looked brand new and seemed to have some sort of upgraded battery. I charged up the Roomba and set it to work. The first pass of the house took a few hours. The Roomba got clogged a few times on dog hair that collected under the chairs, beds, and other hard to reach places. I opened it up, cleaned it out, and set it back to work. This little thing is relentless, and it got 98% of the hair out of our lives - and it also got rid of the dust bunnies under the beds.

The first pass was certainly the toughest, and now that the house is dog hair free, all we have to do is run it every few days. It does need to be cleaned about once a week, but the brushes are easy to remove and replace.

I gave it four stars because it's still not "perfect." It will still get stuck on obstacles in the house, I think it clogs too easily, and it doesn't seem to be able to find it's home base, but that's nitpicking. Overall, this is great little invention.

Vacuums Review Good for dry pickup, not so good for liquids
I'd suggest the cheaper, standard dry-only HEPA filter in place of this one, unless you occasionally suck up damp stuff or small amounts of liquid. This filter is not a good choice for wet applications. I also find that this filter is no easier to clean than any other reuseable cartridge filter. It's rinseable but that sounds better than it works in practice.

If you are faced with sucking up gallons of liquid, this filter doesn't work well. Unless the liquid is very clean, the filter clogs every few minutes. If I'm picking up a lot of liquid, I swap the good ol' foam sleeve back on.

This filter does work well for dry pickup. No more dusty exhaust, a huge improvement over the standard disc filters. However, it's no better than the standard HEPA filter in this regard.

Someone once suggested using an old-fashioned disc filter over the HEPA filter if you use it as a dust collector in a wood shop. I find this to be a very good combination. The disc filter takes out the bigger particles of sawdust, leaving the HEPA to do what it does best -- filter the very fine stuff. Otherwise, you will find yourself cleaning the HEPA a lot. Maybe you lose some suction with the two filters in place, but I really haven't noticed. The disc / HEPA combo would probably be nice for drywall debris and other stuff that has both big chuncks and fine dust.

Vacuums Review CleanStream replacement filter cartridge for Shop-
I purchased this item to be used in a Shop-Vac that removes chips and wood dust from woodworking machines. The claim was that, vacuumed particles would simply fall off the filter
after the power was shut off. I hoped that I could eliminate the expense of filter bags. NOT SO. The filter quickly became clogged and I had to clean it frequently in order to maintain the full flow of air through the vacuum. I have since added the filter bags and have eliminated the filter maintenance problem until the bag is full.
I'm sure that the CleanStream is more efficient than the original filter as far as removing the finer particles from the exhaust air. I would have given the item a 5 if it had met my expectations.

Vacuums Review Forget Bags or other HEPA's-This is the one...it's washable!
This filter works completely awesome and filters drywall dust, fireplace ash, and just about anything else bigger than .3 microns (hospital grade filtration rating even filters viruses). Plus, it's washable!!! so you can use it over and over, or wet. This is the last shop vac filter you will ever by. Nothing gets by it.

Rival VSMK1 Seal A Meal Marinating Kit

    Vacuums Review Marinating Kit
I like this product. Quality is very good. I use it for other things besides marinating. Store homemade cookies in it, left over soups and stews, etc. I am glad I bought it.

    Vacuums Review Very Nice Accessory
This is a nice add-on item to the Seal-A-Meal. I'm not sure Amazon's description is adequate, so I'll start there. This is simply a container made for marinating meats. However, it can be used for other purposes too. Inside the bottom half are some raised "bumps" that hold the meat up and allow the marinade to flow under the meat. The top of the container has a one way valve. You connect the plastic hose (included) to it and the other end to your Seal-A-Meal and it sucks the air out of the container, creating a vacuum inside the container that helps open the "pores" of the meat, allowing it to marinate faster and more thoroughly. Once the vacuum is created, you can disconnect the hose and store the contents indefinitely. So, while it's made specifically for marinating, it can be used as a "stay fresh" canister for most anything that will fit inside. When you're ready to open it, you push the "button" on the valve and the outside air rushes in, eliminating the vacuum and allowing you to open the container.

It would be difficult to know exactly how much this helps the marinating process without doing some kind of side by side test. I didn't do anything like that, but I am convinced that it has helped marinate the meats that I've put in it. It creates a very good vacuum and a very tight seal. It's a nice size to marinate in, but also to store leftover soups, stews, vegetables or meats. You could use it for cookies, crackers, potato chips. You name it. It will fit easily in your refrigerator or pantry. The top half is NOT dishwasher safe, but the bottom half is. You can use the bottom half in the microwave to reheat whatever you've stored inside, thus eliminating having to wash another dish.

If you do a lot of marinating, this is a no-brainer. But even if you only occasionally marinate meats, it's worth buying because it has so many other uses.

    Vacuums Review Poor negative pressure
I purchased this about 1 year ago and it's only taking up space in my house. It has very poor suction on carpeting. Works O.K. on hardwood floors but then again most of these will. I expected better force. The small openning may look "cool" but it doesn't allow for wide enough sweeping area and I find myself going over the same area again and again. Also, the charging holder is a little harder to place the unit in. I would consider look at others first.

Vacuums Review Good if used for what it was intended
Don't expect to do large spaces. Perfect for a small, cluttered home office, especially if you have pets. Empty dust cup often and there is plenty of suction. Long cord a plus.
Don't forget to replace filter/dust cup after emptying! Perfect for picking up dust, fur, cat litter on a bare floor. My previous one lasted 3 years of heavy use. I ordered another one right away; cannot do without!

Vacuums Review Great for pet hair!
I've had this for a couple of months and I'm so impressed at how well it picks up pet hair from upholstered furniture. Great suction and isn't very heavy. I wish I had bought a cordless, which would be more conveient. But, for the price I feel that this works better than my cordless Black and Decker and it's nice not to have to pull out my full size vacuum for quick clean ups.

Vacuums Review Good for PC tools
I bought this to use with my Porter Cable circular saw and biscuit joiner. PC has a non-standard size (1") O.D. connector on its handheld power tools that won't work with standard vacuum hoses. This kit comes with an adapter to size up to 2-1/2" but since I don't hook it up directly to the vac, I plan on buying a 2-1/2" coupling from Lowes to connect it to my 2-1/2" hose. Together, they're really easy to hook up and suck about 50-70% of the dust. It's length and flexibility really help as well.

Vacuums Review Good Retrofit Dust Collection System
I have been impressed with this dust collection system. It was easy to install and works well on my 6" dia. orbital sander. Though some dust still escapes, it is a dramatic improvement over letting the dust fill your work area. On the other end I use a 6.25 peak Shop-Vac QSP Pro and a Sears automatic power switch, which automatically turns the shop vac on when you start the sander. One note of caution, this dust collection system does make the sander harder to hold onto, especially when you are using just one hand.

    Vacuums Review Sticky button
This carafe keeps beverages warm enough. The problem I'm having is the push button on the lid sticking in the open position. The instructions that accompanied the carafe address this issue, although they were written for a different model that has the push button on the top of the lid. Despite following these instructions the push button still sticks. To get the lid to close now after I'm done pouring I have to release the button and smack the top of the carafe. Very poor design in my opinion. I wouldn't buy another Zojirushi product based on this experience.

Vacuums Review Don't sell your microwave
My old Thermos brand carafe had about seen it's day, so after reading all of the great reviews here I picked one up one of these Zojirushi's. I have to say it barely keeps a fresh, piping hot pot of coffee warm until lunch time. In fact, I think my old Thermos brand plastic carafe actually did a little better job. Sorry, I just don't see all the excitement over this item. I find it an average performer. This is the model made in Japan and I have to say I'm not excited about the quality of construction either. Now I wish I would have just spent a little extra money on an airpot.

Vacuums Review A very good Carafe
We've been using this carafe every single day for about 6 months. We strictly use it to keep hot water to warm our babies milk bottles and her food that's been stored in the fridge.

The carafe will keep the hot water fairly hot for about 4 hours. If I try to make coffee with 4 hour old water, it won't dissolve all the coffee crystals.

The only other carafe I've used is one from BB&B. It couldn't keep hot water longer than 1 hour, tops. And it cost almost the same (around $20).
