    Vacuums Review wide mouth thermos
I bought this so that i could bring soup to work. I Pour soup in at 6 a.m. and at noon, it was hot. I do find that this is a bit too big for one person as 1 can of soup does not even fill it half way and therefore, i had to use the cup that it came with. I prefer to eat right out of the thermos but this was very difficult as it is very tall. Approx. 11". I couldn't reach the bottom with my tall spoon. My husband uses it for coffee which he uses the full thermos and he said that even at 2p.m., it is still hot. Great thermos but it is a bit too big to put lunch for one in it.

Vacuums Review Best wide mouth thermos I've found.
Ok, I wanted a large widemouth thermos that kept hot food hot for as long as a one quart narrow mouth coffee thermos. Heat loss in thermos is from the stopper so bigger stopper, faster heat loss. Widemouth thermoses have bigger stopper, duh. Zojirushi is only company that gave numerical heat loss for widemouth thermos. Another site gave heat loss figures for a one quart Nissan narrow mouth coffee thermos (quality product also) and they are very simular performers. Both around 120-130 degreesF after 24 hour when starting with preheated thermos and filling it with boiling liquid and not removing any liquid in those 24 hours.

When I got it, first use I put it to was in thermos cooking. This works great for camping with minimal cooking fuel. Basically you put some rice, chopped vegetables, whatever in pan about the size of thermos, dont want food to be over third pan size and no huge chunks, want everything chopped small so it will cook thoroughly. Then fill pan close to top with water and bring it to rolling boil on stove, shut off stove and quickly pour contents of pan into preheated thermos leaving a little space at top. Close thermos, shake, and lay thermos on its side so food doesnt bunch up. The food will cook in the thermos if thermos holds heat for long enough period. Do this at night and in morning cooked food. One caveat, some food like rice expands greatly as it cooks. Dont use too much for size of thermos- no more than say quarter to third pound dry rice for this thermos if you are only cooking rice. If you experiment with thermos cooking start with small amounts of food and lot water until you get a feel for correct proportions of type food you are cooking. I mainly just wanted to try the Zojirushi so my first attempt was just cup and half of lentils and rest hot water. They were cooked when I opened it after 8 hour, but I was curious so closed it again and left it full 24 hour. The lentils were still hot and edible. I didnt use thermometer, but think the Zojirushi people were honest in their claims of heat retention. Probably around 120 degrees after 24 hour. The Zojirushi performed like a champ in my opinion.

I am not sure what about Zojirushi thermos/stopper is so efficient. The stopper does seem to create a slight vacuum on food inside the thermos. I would assume this helps insulate.

As to using for hot liquid where you are pouring off say cup coffee now and again throughout the day, it works to certain extent, but contents cool much faster because when you pour out hot liquid, that space the liquid occupied in thermos is replaced with cool room temp air. This then cools remaining liquid somewhat. When used this way, those last cups of coffee arent piping hot by any means. Maybe only real way to keep piping hot coffee for use throughout the day is to have three or four efficient small pint thermoses and use up one at a time.

Oh by way this 1.5 liter is identical to 1.3 liter in all ways except size. I would expect the 1.3 widemouth to perform simularly.

    Vacuums Review The worst
I usually read reviews here so I hope I can help someone else. This is by far the worst vacuum I have ever owned. I have two dogs and a cat and the filter clogged within one minute (really) of start up. The dirt cup is small and it shoots dirt out on bare floors. I could not get the hose to work and therefore could not get the 'tiger paw' to work either. I now will not suck since I had to clean up a chocolate powder spill. I cleaned the filters out with water and compressed air and still nothing. I tried to return it to the store but since it was used, same item only. I have written Eureka demanding a full refund. I will let you know how that works out.

    Vacuums Review HORRIBLE!!!!!
This vacuum worked for the first month then lost almost all suction! If you pull the hose out & try to vacuum the baseboards or anything it does not suck it up. Yet if you put your hand on it it will suck your hand. It sprays anything hard all over the place & I have even seen dust spraying out the front when I vacuum in front of the window. I tried vacuuming capture up which is a powder that cleans carpet, It would not even clean that up it just sprayed it out the front of the vacuum all over the place!!! I had to use a shop vac to clean it up! I cannot believe they can sell this piece of you know what!!! I have owned it for less then a year, total waste of money!!!

    Vacuums Review Great Vacuum
I am so impressed with this vacuum in the 12 hours I have had it! I vacuumed an area of my family room three different times and was so shocked at the amount of dirt it pulled out! I looked at the Dyson but couldn't justify the cost. The Dyson can't have more suction than this one does. The power claw attachment actually pulls the carpet on the stairs! I cannot vouch for its longevity but so far this is an amazing vacuum!

    Vacuums Review Shark Bite Victim
The product failed completely after about ten uses; it was still under warranty from the manufacturer. The manufacturer required that the customer pay for shipping to and from their site and that costs nearly what the product sells for new. Further, I obtained the name of a nearby service center and I took it there to see if they could fix it; they told me that they could not obtain parts for it. This is a really bad deal; it is junk and the manufacturer makes sure that it is not worth your while to repair it when it dies after you use it a few times. Don't buy this thing.

    Vacuums Review Perfect picker-upper
I bought this to get cheerios or small bits of food off the floor after mealtimes with my daughter, and it's great! I no longer have to hold her and try to bend down to get it with a dustpan or leave food there all day to get later when she's resting. I've also used this a few times near the cat boxes for stray litter, and it's great. Like the other reviewer said; it's not a replacement vacuum. It's a sweeper to use for short stints or on wood/tile floor. And it's great at what it does.

Vacuums Review Sliced Bread = Shark Sweeper
I hate taking out the vacuum and trying to find a plug for it. This means I wait until I absolutely have to use the vacuum and the house is a mess. This thing is so light and convenient that I pull it out whenever there is a mess and I don't hate doing it. I have had it for about 3 months now and the battery is great. In fact I keep forgetting to plug it back in and it still is always ready for me. It works great on my wood floor and area rugs.

    Vacuums Review BEWARE
The worst vacuum purchase I have ever made. The circuit board has gone out twice in the nine months I have owned it. I have to travel 46 miles to get it repaired even though I can buy the vacuum several places in town. Hoover offered to pay shipping ONE way- whoopee. The sad thing is that the vacuum works great when it works. As soon as it is fixed again I am trading it in for a different brand. I don't dare keep it past the warranty period because who knows how long it will last.

Vacuums Review Good vacuum, bad belt.
I too have stripped the geared belt that was guaranteed for life. And because it's guaranteed for life, they don't sell them in stores, so I guess I'll be contacting Hoover Monday morning to see if they can send me one. Overall, it's been a great vacuum, just the belt issue has been a pain. Also, the green and red light feature is cool. And like mentioned above, it actually seems to work well.

Vacuums Review Seven Months and I still love this Hoover Savvy!
I was in the market for a new vacuum, and was leaning toward a Dyson. I read an comparison by Good Housekeeping, though, and this was the winner. I decided to give it a try! I couldn't wait to try it as soon as I got it. So, even though my carpet had just been swept with my very old Dirt Devil, I vacuumed as soon as I got it out of the box and got the attachments fastened on. It picked up a ton of cat hair and a little bit of dirt. It has a neat sensor on it that is red and says dirty and then changes to a green light saying "clean." I've found the light changes to "clean" when it is no longer picking up anything. I first thought it was silly, but it's actually quite useful: the carpet is never actually cleaned as soon as I think it should be. The powered hand tool does a bang up job on the recliner and my couches. Seven months later and I still love my Hoover Savvy.
