So so jobI bought this a couple of years ago and it's impossible to keep it from leaking from the cup where you put the cleaning solution. I've tried everything. If this is a newer model, hopefully it does a better job.
Great in a pinch! This little fella is very easy to use and a great little spot cleaner. I have 1 dog and 2 cats and am in the process of selling my house, so it has been a life saver for cleaning up little erp ups or other minor accidents quickly without being noticed. Love it!
Works for me I like this item, I bought this, after moving in an apartment ment for collage students, the rug was in shambles, this carpet cleaner picked up some grime that i couldnt see with an glance, now the carpet looks far more clean than i antipicated. thanks for the gadget.

Sucks great! Belts keep breakingI really liked this vacuum the first time I used it. It is very powerful and does a good job cleaning. The cord is a little too short and the attachment hose is a little too short but I can get past that since its really lightweight and easy to carry up the steps. I can carry my son in one arm and the vacuum in the other.
The only drawbacks I've come across so far are the access panel to the bag comes off too easy. My son has pulled it off 2x and ripped the bag out. I know they list "easy access" as a selling point but if you have a toddler a little less easy access might be better.
Also, I've only had it a few weeks and the belt has broken twice. I doesn't do too well if it comes across a rogue sock. ]

Love having a bagged vacuum againI had bought a bagless vacuum and was thoroughly disappointed in it. I bought the Hoover Tempo and am very happy with it. Easy to operate and it does a great job. I would recommend it highly.
great vacuum!!After researching quite a bit I decided to go for hoover U5145-900. I did not want to have a vacuum that requires the expensive filters that you need to change every few months at $10-20 a pop. The hoover bag system is good enough for my breathing needs. I received the vacuum last week and my wife and I are quite please. It is about 17 pounds but slides quite easily. The higher end models usually are 22-25 lbs which is why we don't clean the stair too often. This vacuum has a special handle to help you grab the the vacuum in the stairs without breaking your back. The suction is quite good too. So good that the machine actually propels itself forward. For the price range you cannot go wrong.

IneffectiveI had hoped to use this with Mason jars to greatly expand my available vacuum storage for crushable/bulk items, without paying the high price for the containers. But it doesn't actually work, even when you think it does.
In more detail: at first I found it impossible to get a lid to stay sealed on the jar at all - air would fill the jar as soon as the pump stopped. I found that this was because I was using new lids; when I tightened the lids onto empty jars for a few days to "work in" the rubber I got better results. After that, if I removed the "jar sealer" device carefully after running the pump, the lid would stay firmly on the jar, it was "dimpled" down indicating a vacuum, and took a bit of effort to pry off.
I remained a bit suspicious, so I decided to actually test how good the vacuum was in the jar. To do this, I vac sealed a jar, then put it in bucket of water upside down, popped off the lid so that water would fill it only the extent that air was absent, then popped the lid back. The results: only 20% of the jar was full of water, the rest was air that was left in there after the vacuum seal - that is it left 80% of the air in the jar.
For comparison, I did the same test with a regular FoodSaver container. The result: the container was 67% full of water. (I think you're not supposed to immerse the lids on those, but hey! in the interests of science... ;)
The bottom line: this attachment is less than one-third as effective in removing air from jars, as the base device is when used with purpose-made containers. Even though the Mason jar lid seems firmly sealed, MOST of the air that was in the jar, remains in the jar. The device is ineffective: don't buy it!

Does not work well with small jarsI am not sure if this is specific to my machine but the regular mouth jar sealer does not seem to work well for smaller jars: there appears to be not enough vacuum as you release the button to keep the lid tightly sealed.
FS Regular SealerDoes what it is supposed to. But go to Yahoo FoodSaver Group for lots of hints on how to make it work as well as it can.

Lives up to the name "Animal"Having recently purchased the DC14, I feel compelled to write about it. I've never felt eager about using a vacuum cleaner, but with my wife's severe allergies I needed to try something different than my current vacuum that just kept getting its paper filter clogged and was a total mess to clean.
Initially, I was disappointed as the suction seemed quite low and I figured something was wrong with the unit. I basically followed the disassembly instructions to check for a clog and then re-assembled everything and checked again. The suction is amazing. It easily beats my other bagless upright (a well known brand that is also the name of a dam). I spent an hour cleaning my living room with my old vacuum and then ran the Dyson over the same area and promptly filled the canister. We have a very prolificly shedding long haired cat and we live in a very dusty area with a lot of tree pollen so I felt good to see all the stuff being pulled out of our carpet.
Since my wife is asthmatic and does suffer from serious allergies I hope that time will prove this vacuum to be the help I hope it is. I did notice the air smelled a lot cleaner using the Dyson than the other vacuum.
Another positive is how easy the thing is to take apart to clean and empty the canister. Everything snaps into place and while the fit is somewhat loose for some parts, when the vacuum is on, it pulls things together with the force of the vacuum.
To me the manual is also a plus. Then again, I'm an engineer and I like short, sweet directions. Yes, it is terse and it shows illustrations to do things versus step-by-step instructions, but they worked fine for me.
Now, onto the cons, and yes I noticed a couple. One is the hose/wand. The wand is stiff to extend from the hose and the hose itself doesn't stretch very easily. The cord is very long, and somewhat unwieldy, it would be nice to have an automatic cord winding system. Maneuvering is a bit difficult as well, but that's something the DC15 seems to have corrected using Dyson's uniball system from their wheelbarrow's from the UK.
Overall, though, this is a five star vacuum. Is it worth 500 dollars? I paid well less than that at a local store, but if I had to answer that question, I would say yes, it is. The lifetime filter is a nice touch and the fact it keeps suction is also huge.

I'm sorry I waited so long to buy this vacuumI bought my Dyson Animal Vac from Sears, I was initally put off by the price, $500+ for a vacuum. We have 3 cats and the majority of our house is carpet, after numerous cleanings the carpets still looked dingy. I did research on several vacuums and the one that always had the highest rating was Dyson. Sears gave a $100 gift card so that's why I went there. I got it home and it looked kind of flimsy, it was super easy to put together and light compared to my Eureka. I used it in the bedroom first, I was horrified by the amount of dirt & hair the vacuum picked up. I love the turbine head, it's a piece of cake to clean the cat hair off my couch. My carpets look much brighter now that I have my Dyson. It's wonderful!!
The Animal IS an Animal!"OH.....MY......GOD.......!
Never in my LIFE have I ever seen any vacum like this Dyson clean! I have one long hair cat, two Golden Retrievers and a Newfoundland, unfortunely, I am a very clean person and and have been fighting dog and cat hair for the past 10 years. I have gone thru 4 vacum cleaners, buying into their promises of really picking up dirt and hair, which they do for about two weeks, and then it's all over....ususally the motor burns out.
When I got my Dyson Animal I tried it out on my living floor, and I kept vacuming for one hour and it kept picking up the hair while I kept cleaning the cansiter!!! My living room is 13*14. My carpet almost looks like brand new, it raises the nap so well!. Now I can have it cleaned and the cleaning people won't complain about all the hair in the carpet!
If you have a dog, cat, or even a hairy boyfriend. GET THIS DYSON!!!!!!! IT IS WELL WORTH YOUR MONEY!!!!!!!
PS When you vacum your house, the air in yur house is also so much fresher!"

don't waste your money!!!!I've read the other reviews and I must have gotten the wrong vacuum. Either that or everyone is afraid to say they got robbed!!! This is the most expensive piece of junk I have ever bought. First, it weighs too much. You have to really lug it around and it's HEAVY. Which also means if you accidently bump into furniture, and who doesn't, it can knock something off. Getting it up stairs requires a moving van. The attachments are cumbersome and exceedingly hard to use. You have to disconnect this and that and this and that to get the attachments on. It does get to the dust really well, but so did my electrolux. And although it makes alot of noise the suction isn't any better than a high quality vacuum you get at Sears for half the price. Do yourself a favor before you buy. Try it if you can. It sucks...but not literally.
My Pros and Cons about the Dyson "The Ball"I always wanted a Dyson vacuum cleaner and I am glad I waited for the "ball" model. Overall, all the hype really measures up to my expectations.
Overall, this is a amazing vacuum cleaner.. The suction is unbelievable!! I had to empty the bin 5+ times before I was done with my hallway and bedroom alone. It picked up an incredible amount of dust.
On the negative side..(and why I gave it 4 stars)
I hear a high pitch sound when the vacuum cleaner is on.. (I am sensitive to it)...
The Stair cleaning feature with the hose was a true fight and chore.. the hose was very stiff and unwilling to "come with me" I literally had to fight my way up the stairs and had to use lots of muscle to get them done. I really don't like the hose.. it is not user friendly.
Lastly, the bin does not hold very much dust. Having to empty the bin so many times is very annoying. Oh and I accidentally drove over my cable and it took the outer layer off.. (no auto shut off when it got stuck. )
That being said.. even though I wrote more con's than pro's .. I would not trade this vacuum cleaner in for another. I am very happy with it's suction and cleaning power. The Carpets look beautiful and I will just have to purchase another small vacuum cleaner to take care of my stairs.

Outstanding performanceWe received our DC15 and used it today for the first time. I can NOT believe the result! This replaced a 10 year old, top of the line Eureka bag type. The difference is like night and day!!
The instructions were clear and concise, easy to understand and follow. The attachments fit together perfectly and are easily stored, with the exception of the extra "bag" of equipment. The mini-beater bar attachment for stairs also works exceptionally well on our couches.
The bottom line is checking the container to see what was actually in it... It is full of, well, let's just say that the cat must be bald because you could reconstruct him with the fur I found!!
Best of all, Amazon uses the most reputable vendor I have ever met on the internet... Witbeck's. They could not have been more professional or helpful. I applaud them and would hope all internet vendors could come close... Thank you, Witbecks!

Bad productThis was a waste of my money. Very disappointed. This product is not the real thing. It didn't fit my vacuum cleaner. It was an immitation, but a very cheap one, in which the cardboard square that is supposed to attach to the vacuum cleaner was smaller and would not secure in place, therefore not fit for its purpose.
A Vacuum bag that Thinks it's a HEPA filter - Great!I love these vacuum bags because of the electrostatic liner that catches the smallest particles yet does not require a seperate HEPA filter like most others (which incidentally is ususally an extra item you have to buy and is sometimes hard to find). With this filter you do not get the cloud of dust in the room that others I have used leave behind which is very annoying and leaves you wondering why you vacuumed in the first palce. The fliter is easy to get to and change. Though not HEPA rated this filter IS the next best thing and a LOT LESS trouble and expense. If you are buying the Hoover Canister vacuum machine I suggest buying a couple of packs of these bags along with the machine.
I CAN VACUUMI HAVE SEVERAL ALLERGIES WHICH INCLUDE HOUSE DUST, DUST MITES, AND CAT DANDER. I HAVE TRIED OTHER NAME BRAND VACUUMS WITH THEIR ALLERGEN BAGS AND/OR FILTERS. I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO DO MY OWN VACUUMING OR EVEN BE IN THE SAME ROOM WHILE SOMEONE ELSE WAS VACUUMING, WITHOUT HAVING AN ALLERGY ATTACK, UNTIL I TRIED USING HOOVER TYPE S ALLERGEN VACUUM BAGS. THEY WORK GREAT! EVEN MY DAUGHTER, WITH ALL HER ALLERGIES, WILL ASK IF SHE CAN DO THE VACUUMING FOR ME.

Broke twiceThe arm sprayer on this machine broke once, so I ordered a new part from the manufacturer. After only 3 uses, the new sprayer broke. I did not order another part, I'm going to try something else (haven't decided what yet). As for the cleaning, it would clean juice stains and other miscellaneous stains (I don't have pets) well, but they would reappear after a few days of cleaning.
Don't throw it out!As others have stated - it works well when it works. I was really happy with the way it cleaned. I especially liked the turbo brush. But when I went to use it for only the second time the sprayer wouldn't work - a frequent complaint I understand. You don't have to be particularly handy to fix it. You need a screw driver, a pair of pliers and a paper clip. Unplug the machine. Take the four screws from the top out. Pull the top up. Underneath you will see a black box with 4 screws - undo. Underneath the cover is heater box. Lift up and undo the 5 screws on the bottom. You will see what is causing the problem. You don't need to disconnect the wires. Release the clamps holding the plastic tubes with the pliers and gently remove the tubes. Use the paper clip, opened, to clean out the holes in the heater. It did not take long at all.
The Little That Finally CouldI purchased this as a replacement to an original little green machine.
The main selling points for this new Bissell were the pro heat feature, power rotating brush, easy removal and emptying of the fluid holders and an ergonomic design with cord wrap.
This new Bissell finally has enough amps to thoroughly clean and vacuums the stain you are removing.
At 9 amps, it is finally strong enough to remove almost all of the soap and wetness from the carpets lessening the air-drying time afterwards.
The unit can be a little noisy though; but how often do you clean stains anyway?
The down side of this unit is that the pro heat feature can turned on and off but not without the main power being on.
Simply put, you cannot preheat the water without having the cleaning power on as well and as I mentioned, it is a little noisy.

Okay if you use it oftenI use this sweeper on a back (concrete) patio. It works pretty well over smooth concrete, but not so much on rough surfaces, like concrete that has rocks embedded in it, and it not well at all in tight spaces, like corners. Also, if some of the surfaces you're using it on are irregular--for example, my patio has slabs that have moved upward or downward over the years--it's difficult to push from one level of surface to another. You have to lift it to get it to move, and the aluminum arms seem pretty flimsy.
And, as another reviewer said, it's a poor substitute for a blower; when I really want things cleaned up properly, I use a corded electric Toro blower (available for cheap elsewhere on Amazon). But that involves breaking out an extension cord, untangling it, blowing debris into a central spot, then using a broom and a dustpan, then packing up the extension cord and everything else.
So, I keep this sweeper out back, and I run it around the patio every day or two; I'm out there anyway, and when I'm done, I just park it--no packing up the extension cord, etc. This strategy just helps me keep ahead of the leaves.
So, it's not a superb product, but for my purpose, it was worth the purchase price (which was about $48 when I bought it in late April 2006).

Pretty GoodExactly what I was looking for. Picks up all sorts of debris from my trees that land on the deck and get tracked into the house. Usually needs 2 or 3 passes to pick up most everything, but works far better than the broom ever did.
Happy that I bought itI use it for my investment properties because they require quite moment. It is very easy to use and save me a lot of time. I hardly use my blowers since I bought this unit.

Foodsaver vs Rival Seal a MealThese bags are super convenient and they're small enough to portion out a single serving. I bought these for my Rival Seal a Meal since I can't seem to find this pint size by Rival. I've had mixed success in using Foodsaver bags in the Seal-a-Meal, but that's not so much a product flaw. I have noticed however that the Rival bags feel thicker than the Foodsaver bags. Overall these bags are good, and they're a convenient size.
Great size bagI am so glad I tried this size bag because I use it all the time and it is a great time saver;could not be better.
Luv the bagsThese are such a handy to size for single portions. I can pick 2 or 3 items for a meal & heat them in boiling water for a home cooked meal in minutes.
